Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Udo Kier starred in a French-German movie in 1975 which was based on the infamous 1954 novel by Pauline Réage. What was the name of this movie that was not certified by The British Board of Film Censors?

Answer: Histoire d'O/Story of O

"Story of O" was about the training of a photo-journalist, known only as "O", in the art of pleasing a man in any way that he so desired. Udo Kier played René, the beautiful young man who set "O" off on her journey of discovery.

By refusing to certify the movie, The British Board of Film Censors (now renamed The British Board of Film Certification) effectively banned the movie. It is now available on DVD.

The three wrong answers were all other movies from 1975.
2. Udo Kier played Ronald Camp, a suspect in a Jim Carrey movie. Ronald Camp turned out to be just an ordinary, but very rich, business man with a fish fixation. Which 1994 movie was this?

Answer: Ace Ventura: Pet Detective

When Ace Ventura was looking for the missing dolphin in "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective", he investigated people who had recently bought tanks large enough to hold a dolphin. Ronald Camp, played by Udo Kier, was one of them. He had bought his tank to hold a shark.

The three wrong answers were all Jim Carrey movies.
3. Udo Kier starred in which 1973 Italian-French 3D horror film which received an "X" rating due to the sex and violence that it contained?

Answer: Andy Warhol's Frankenstein

Udo Kier starred as Dr. Frankenstein, who was determined to produce a master race at the cost of all other thoughts. Although the doctor mostly managed to sublimate his own sexual urges, the same cannot be said for his creations. The use of 3D was most effective during the surgery scenes when bodily parts seemed to fall into the laps of the audience.

The three wrong answers all were other movies from 1973.
4. Udo Kier appeared in the Madonna book "Sex" and which of her pop videos from the "Erotica" album?

Answer: Deeper and Deeper

"Deeper and Deeper" was a dance track. The lyrics metaphorically dealt with a boy learning to accept his own sexuality. The Andy Warhol influenced video was set in a night club and Udo Kier played the part of the singer's boyfriend.

The three wrong answers were all other Madonna tracks.
5. In which 1991 movie, about street kids in USA, did Udo Kier play a foreign pervert who tried to help the boys at the same time as attempting to relive his own past?

Answer: My Own Private Idaho

"My Own Private Idaho" starred Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix as two street kids, each on a personal quest. Udo Kier played Gus Van Sant, a rich client who tried to help the boys, but who is never liked or understood. He used them as an audience when he sang along to his own songs from the past on tape.

The three wrong answers were all other movies from 1991.
6. In which 1996 movie based on a comic book character did Udo Kier play a side-kick to the main protagonist?

Answer: Barb Wire

"Barb Wire" was based very loosely on the classic war movie, "Casablanca". Udo Kier played a bald character who was, of course, called Curly. He was with "Barb Wire", played by Pamela Anderson, when she found the body of Charlie.

The three wrong answers were all other movies from 1996.
7. In which 1998 movie did Udo Kier play a psychologist who had to interview Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thornton, Ben Affleck and Owen Wilson?

Answer: Armageddon

In "Armageddon", Bruce Willis heads a crew of oil-riggers drafted in by NASA to blow up an asteroid on a deadly collision course with Earth. Udo Kier had the job of interviewing and assessing them.

The three wrong answers were all other movies from 1998.
8. In which 1995 SciFi movie does Udo Kier play the handler/manager of the eponymous hero who was played by Keanu Reeves?

Answer: Johnny Mnemonic

"Johnny Mnemonic" is a courier, loaded up with so much information that he can no longer access his own real memories. Udo Kier plays his handler who is out to get a huge bribe for delivering Johnny to the right people.

The three wrong answers were all other movies from 1995.
9. Udo Kier has appeared in many of the movies of Danish director, Lars Von Trier. In which 1996 movie did Udo play the tiny, but significant, role of the sadistic sailor?

Answer: Breaking the Waves

"Breaking the Waves" was the story of the all-too-short marriage of Bess McNeill, played by Emily Watson. Udo Kier did not have any lines in the movie, but his actions and eye movements were enough to send a shudder down the spine.

The three wrong answers were all Lars Von Trier movies.
10. In which children's animated television series, which ended in 2013, did Udo Kier provide the voice of a parrot that was not all that he seemed to be?

Answer: Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated

The parrot in question was Professor Pericles. At first he was the mystery correspondent who was helping the gang. Then he turned into the villein as he tried to steal the clues for his own purpose. By the end of the series he had returned to being just a rather ugly parrot.

"Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated" was the eleventh in the Scooby-Doo series.
