Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the name of Max's show that has just flopped at the start of the film?

Answer: Funny Boy

This is right at the start of the film. Everybody seems to hate the show. The crowd at one point sings, "What a disaster."

Later on Roger and Carman both seemed to enjoy it. Roger says "Max darling, we loved "Funny Boy", didn't we Carman?"
2. Why does Leo apologize to Max?

Answer: Because he caught him feeling up the old lady

Leo: 'I'm terribly sorry I caught you feeling up the old lady'.
Max: 'Feeling up the old lady. Thank you, Mr. Tack'.

This is just before the 'blue blanket' scene. Hold me Touch me had been in, wanting to play her 'dirty little games'.
3. "I was never a member of the Nazi Party. I only followed orders. I had nothing to do with the war. I didn't even know there was a war on. We lived in the back. Right across from ____________."

Answer: Switzerland

Franz then says, "All we ever heard was yodeling"

It is a very funny scene as he is dressed in a German helmet and a Lederhosen. Also, the pigeons behind him make the scene even more amusing.
4. "The penalty for breaking the Siegfried Oath is Dess?" Is this exactly how it was said in the movie?

Answer: True

Max: "Dess? Is that anything like death?"
Franz: "Yeth!"

This is after Max and Leo have taken the Siegfried Oath, which is the pledge of total allegiance to Hitler. Because of Franz's accent, he pronounces death as "Dess". This makes the scene funnier.
5. In the Keep it Gay scene, what is Roger's excuse for not wanting to be the director of Springtime for Hitler?

Answer: Too dark, too depressing

"Too dark, too depressing
The theater's so obsessed
With dramas so depressed
It's hard to sell a ticket on Broadway
Shows should be more pretty
Shows should be more witty
Shows should be more...
What's the word?"
Leo:
"Gay?"

This is the beginning of the "Keep it Gay" song. It is a very funny scene which even includes Max and Leo dancing around.
6. What does Ulla like to do from 8 until 9?

Answer: Eat big Swedish Breakfast

"Well, Ulla wake up every morning at five AM.
From five to seven, Ulla like to exercise.
From seven to eight Ulla take long shower.
From eight to nine Ulla likes to eat big Swedish breakfast. Many different herrings.
From nine to eleven, Ulla like to practice her singing and her dancing.
And at eleven, Ulla like to have sex.
So, what time should I get here?"

Max and Leo have just offered Ulla a job and quickly reply "Eleven" after this speech.
7. "For every skirt will test ________."

Answer: Testosterone

"The urge to merge can rob us of our senses
The need to breed can make a man a drone
We must be on alert with our defenses
For every skirt will test testosterone"

This is the "That Face" scene where Ulla and Leo share their first kiss. Max still doesn't know anything about them being together.
8. What does 'Haben Sie Gehort Das Deutsche Band?' actually mean?

Answer: Have you ever heard the German Band?

Roger: "What are you going to sing for us?"
Jason: "Have You Ever Heard The German band?"
Roger: "No!"
Jason: "That is the name of the song I am going to sing"
Roger: "Oh!"

Franz is then so appalled by the way Jason sings this song, he gets up and sings it himself, resulting in him being cast to play the part of Hitler.
9. Who plays the part of the Lead Tenor in "Springtime for Hitler"?

Answer: John Barrowman

He starred in many different musicals on the West End and is a fantastic singer! He starred in 'Torchwood' and 'Dr Who' alongside David Tenent.
In 'The Producers' he sings most of the 'Springtime for Hitler' lyrics and even did some dancing.
10. In the end credits, Franz sings a slower version of "Der Guten Tag Hop Clop". Once he has finished this he tells people to buy what book?

Answer: Mein Kampf

Franz: 'Don't forget to buy "Mein Kampf" in paperback. Available near you... at Borders Books... or Barnes and Noble... and Amazon.com'

Not many people watch up to this part, but it does actually happen. After this, the cast, including Mel Brooks, sing an additional song called, 'Goodbye!'.
