Depp, born on June 9th, 1963 in Owensboro, Kentucky, was cast as James M. Barrie. James was a playwright and was first seen attending a production of one of his plays. After it was done, he spoke with a patron who informed him she enjoyed the play very much. James responded by telling her he appreciated her praise.

When the woman's husband asked James what his opinion was of the play, he replied that he could do better. One day at the park, James met Sylvia Llewelyn Davies and her children and befriended all of them. James would eventually write a play called "Peter Pan" which involved pirates and he saw this play get showcased at a local theater. Depp starred in the movies, "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl", "A Nightmare on Elm Street" (1984) and "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street".

Mary asked him if he would be working while at the park and James said he might. Mary told James she would then not go to the park in case James got to work there, as she felt her presence would distract him. Mary was seen becoming frustrated with James over his closeness with Sylvia and this caused friction between the two. Spill, born in 1996 in England, played Michael Llewelyn Davies. Michael had three siblings and his mother was Sylvia and he was first seen at the park on the same day James was there. Michael hid under a bench since the children were playing a game and he informed James that he stepped on his shirt. James apologized to Michael and then Michael informed him he had to stay under the bench since George "imprisoned" him there. James then asked Michael what his name was so Michael gave him his name. George then came over and asked James if Michael was bothering him since he knew his brother could be an annoyance but James said he was okay.

It was revealed that Michael was only five years old. Spill's first acting role was playing Michael Lleweleyn Davies in "Finding Neverland".

Winslet, born on October 5th, 1975 in Reading, Berkshire, England, landed the role of Sylvia Llewelyn Davies. Sylvia had five children named George, Michael, Jack, Peter and Nicholas (not seen in the movie) and was at the park with them one day when she met James.

She noticed Michael lying underneath a bench so she told him to get up from underneath there, which he did. When James gave his name to Sylvia, she recognized him as a famous playwright and she mentioned to her children that he was quite famous. Sylvia apologized to James since she believed she interrupted him while he was writing but he told her he was not writing anything. Sylvia and her children sat down on the grass while James entertained them with his dog, Porthos. Winslet had roles in the films "Titanic", "Revolutionary Road" and "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind".

In 2009, she won an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the film "The Reader". Highmore, a native of London, England, was cast as Peter Llewelyn Davies. Peter spoke with James at his second outing at the park when he asked him if what he was writing while he sat on the park bench. James said it was nothing important so he asked Peter if he kept a journal so Peter told him he did not. James then asked Peter if he ever helped someone write a play and Peter again told him he had not. James noticed Peter's brothers and his mother were not with him so he asked him where they were. Peter responded they were at home and also stated his mother had a cold. Peter then started to walk off so he could let James tend to his writing and James mentioned to Peter that he would see him again someday soon. Highmore starred in the movies "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", "Women Talking Dirty" and "Arthur 3: The War of the Two Worlds".

Hoffman, born in 1937 in Los Angeles, California, played Charles Frohman in "Finding Neverland". Charles spoke with James early on in the film when he mentioned to him that he took an extended lease on the theater so he could keep many of the actors and actresses there for a longer period of time. James asked Charles if he would be willing to showcase another play of his at the theater and Charles mentioned he would do it. James then walked off and then someone brought Charles a form for him to sign that had to do with storage. Charles then went inside the theater and sat beside James while they watched a rehearsal. Hoffman was seen playing characters in the films "Hook", "Kramer vs. Kramer" and "Mad City".

In 1975, he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role for "Lenny" but lost to Art Carney for "Harry and Tonto".

Christie portrayed Emma du Marier. Emma was Sylvia's mother and grandmother to Peter, Jack, George and Michael and was first seen at the Barrie residence having dinner there. Mary mentioned how awkward it was that it was at that dinner where she met Emma for the first time but that it was a pleasure to meet her so Emma remarked on how kind Mary was. Mary informed Emma that she went to many social events and always saw Emma's name listed amongst all the other organizers for the events. Emma responded to this by saying she had little time for anything else as a result of all her help on the social events. Emma mentioned that she was running two households at the time and snidely stated Sylvia felt she could get by without a housekeeper. Christie had roles in the movies "The Secret Life of Words", "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" and "I'm with Lucy".

In 1966, she won an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role for the movie "Darling". Roud landed the role of George Llewelyn Davies. When George first met James, he asked him what he had written so far in his life. James told George that he made his living entertaining princes and their courts. George was seen one day at the park with James, his mother and his brothers trying to fly a kite and his brothers told him to slow down since he was running fast. George simply said that he needed to keep running in order to get a bit more speed. George eventually stopped since James said the kite needed a tail and then George commented that the kite likely was not heavy enough. He also appeared in the 2004 T.V. mini-series "Island at War".

Fox was cast as Gilbert Cannan. Gilbert was first seen at the Barrie's residence when he spoke with Mary. James got home after spending a day with the Davies family and noticed both Mary and Gilbert talking. Mary introduced Gilbert to James and told him that Gilbert was on a committee aimed at fighting government censorship. Gilbert then mentioned to James that he knew of James' involvement in the same issue as well and that he wanted to speak to him about it. Cullen, born in 1960 in Newcastle, Tyne and Wear, England, played Dr. Brighton. After Sylvia had a coughing fit, Dr. Brighton was contacted to help treat her and he paid a couple of house calls in the movie. Near the end of the movie, Dr. Brighton saw Sylvia and asked her if there had been any changes since his last visit but she told him there had been none. George then entered the room and asked Dr. Brighton if he could have a word with him and Dr. Brighton said yes so he stepped outside to talk to George. Shortly later, the four Davies children and Dr. Brighton entered Sylvia's room to ask her to come downstairs for a moment.
