Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I portrayed The Joker's number one man. The Joker even told me this himself! I also steered The Joker in Vicki Vale's direction. Who am I?

Answer: Tracey Walter

Walter, born on November 25th, 1947 in Jersey City, New Jersey, took on the role of The Joker's favorite goon, Bob. After The Joker's infamous handshake went awry, he told Bob that he was his number one guy. Bob was seen right beside The Joker throughout all of his crimes, which ranged from his "redecoration" of the museum, to when he shot Bruce Wayne at Vicki's apartment, to when he gassed people at the parade.

When the parade ended, The Joker shot Bob, as the Joker was unaware that Batman had a Bat plane, and Bob died. Walter starred in the films, "Just Add Water", "The Manchurian Candidate" (2004 version), and "Erin Brockovich".
2. I was Carl Grissom's girlfriend but I slept with Jack Napier behind his back. This led to Jack Napier becoming The Joker. Who am I?

Answer: Jerry Hall

Hall, most famous for being the ex wife of Mick Jagger, portrayed Alicia, Carl Grissom's main squeeze. When Carl realized that Alicia had an affair with Jack Napier behind his back, he set up Jack to be caught by the police at Axis Chemicals. Jack wound up killing Carl and then showed himself to Alicia.

The first time Alicia saw Jack as The Joker, she fainted. The Joker started to have a liking for art and this was when he put a mask on Alicia since he considered her a "work of art". When Alicia took off the mask, at The Joker's meeting with Vicki Vale, she revealed a scar. Alicia committed suicide by throwing herself out of a window. Hall was seen on television over the years, appearing on series' like, "Popetown", "The Detectives", and "Lenny Goes to Town".
3. I played the top public official in Gotham City during a time of massive crime. I depended on Harvey Dent to help me clean up the city's problems. Who am I?

Answer: Lee Wallace

Lee Wallace, a native of Brooklyn, was Gotham City's mayor in "Batman". With all the crimes going on in Gotham City and how the city suffered by being in debt, many people wondered if they should hold a festival to celebrate Gotham City's bicentennial.

The mayor assured his staff and the residents of Gotham City that the festival would go on as planned. One pivotal scene we saw of the mayor, was when The Joker stabbed someone in the neck with a feather pen. There was a shootout but the mayor survived. Wallace had roles in movies like "The Hot Rock", "Thieves", and "Diary of the Dead".
4. I was the intrepid photojournalist who dated Bruce Wayne on a couple of occasions. At the end of the film, I had a dance with The Joker and expressed admiration for his purple jacket. Who am I?

Answer: Kim Basinger

Basinger, born in 1953 in Georgia, was Vicki Vale. We first saw Vicki when reporter, Alexander Knox (who was obsessed with proving the existence of Batman), introduced himself to her and they formed a tag team. She would take photos and he would write the stories.

They attended Bruce Wayne's benefit together, but Vicki kept their relationship strictly as friends. When Vicki took photos of Batman fighting off a couple of The Joker's henchmen, Batman took her back to the Batcave and stole her film.

At the movie's climax, Vicki started to kiss The Joker's jacket in an effort to distract him from Batman, but she almost wound up dead. She survived and was last seen getting into Alfred's car. Basinger starred in the films, "L.A. Confidential", "Cellular", and "8 Mile".

She won an Academy Award in 1998 for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "L.A. Confidential".
5. I was a corrupt lieutenant for the Gotham City Police Department. I met my maker at Axis Chemicals. Who am I?

Answer: William Hootkins

Hootkins, a native of Dallas, was cast as Lieutenant Eckhardt for this film. We saw him several times when he dealt with Jack Napier. When Carl Grissom found out that Jack had slept with his girlfriend, he phoned up the police department and asked for Lieutenant Eckhardt.

He told him that there would be a crime committed at Axis Chemicals (before this, Grissom told Napier to clean out Axis Chemicals so as to destroy any evidence that linked both of them to breaking the law). Eckhardt had many police officers head over there. Commissioner Gordon, who got a call at Bruce Wayne's benefit that there was a tip about a crime going on at Axis Chemicals, left the benefit to go there. Right before Jack Napier fell into the vat of chemicals that burned his face, he shot Eckhardt dead. Hootkins starred in the TV series', "Capital City", "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles", and "The West Wing".

He passed away in 2005 at the age of 57.
6. I portrayed the most powerful man at the Gotham City Police Department. I was seen throughout the film when I investigated crimes and promised people that, if there was a Batman, he would be arrested. Who am I?

Answer: Pat Hingle

Veteran actor Pat Hingle, born on July 19th, 1924 in Miami, took on the role of Commissioner James Gordon. When Gordon got a tip to go to Axis Chemicals and catch a crime in progress, he left the party and went there. He told his men over the speaker that he wanted Jack Napier caught alive, so nobody was to shoot him or shoot at him.

At one point, Batman had Jack Napier but one of his goons put a gun to Gordon's head. He told Batman to release Jack or he would shoot Gordon dead. At the end of the film, Gordon read a note from Batman about how, if crime ever occurred again in Gotham City, to call him. One person asked how to call him. Gordon told him that Batman gave him a signal to use whenever he was needed. Hingle, aside from starring as Commissioner Gordon, again, in "Batman Returns", "Batman Forever", and "Batman & Robin", also starred in films like, "Two Tickets to Paradise", "Shaft", and "The Grifters".

He died on January 3rd, 2009.
7. I was Bruce Wayne's most trusted confidant and Bruce once remarked that he could not find his socks without me. Who am I?

Answer: Michael Gough

Gough, born in Malaysia, was Bruce Wayne's butler, Alfred Pennyworth. Alfred provided much comfort to Bruce after his parents died. Alfred served soup to both Bruce and Vicki on their first date and, on that same date, told Vicki some funny stories of when Bruce grew up. Alfred brought Vicki into the Batcave near the film's ending.

When he picked up Vicki right after the Bat signal shone in the sky, he told her that Bruce may arrive late. Gough had guest spots on the TV series "Sleepers" and "Boons".

He reprised his role of Alfred for "Batman Returns", "Batman Forever", and "Batman & Robin".
8. I was seen very briefly in this movie, at a business meeting between my associates and that of Jack Napier's men. When Napier went up to shake my hand, you can say I got all "fired up". Who am I?

Answer: Edwin Craig

Craig took on the role of Rotelli, a businessman who was only seen in one scene in "Batman". Jack Napier proposed a ludicrous offer to Rotelli and his men and that was when Rotelli asked him what was up with his smile. Napier said that life had blessed him and then commented on how nobody wanted a war so they should shake hands.

When Napier shook Rotelli's hand, he started to burn up and his face caught fire. When Rotelli wound up dead, Napier revealed the joke he played on him (there was a buzzer in his hand). Napier commented, "Antoine got a little hot under the collar." Craig had parts in the films, "Three Kinds of Heat", "The Runner", and "Denial".
9. I played a character in a flashback of Bruce Wayne's. I saw my parents gunned down by a madman. Who am I?

Answer: Charles Roskilly

It was Roskilly who appeared briefly as a young Bruce Wayne. After The Joker shot Wayne in Vicki Vale's apartment, Wayne went back to the Batcave (he used a silver tray to protect him from the bullet) and thought about the night his parents were murdered.

As Bruce and his parents walked out of the opera, they were confronted in an alleyway on Pearl and Phillips' streets, by a couple of men with guns. Dr. Thomas Wayne, Bruce's father, struggled with the man but he wound up shot and then the shooter shot Bruce's mother.

It turned out that Jack Napier killed Bruce's parents because he said to Bruce at that time, "Have you ever danced with the Devil in the pale moonlight?" The Joker said the same exact line to Wayne at Vicki Vale's apartment. "Batman" was the Charles Roskilly's first film.
10. I appeared in a flashback, in which it was revealed I murdered both Thomas Wayne and his wife. Who was I?

Answer: Hugo E. Blick

Blick, who was born in The United Kingdom, starred as a younger Jack Napier. The younger version of Jack was only seen in this flashback that Bruce had. The young Jack Napier also held a gun on a young Bruce Wayne but his accomplice told him to go. Jack left the scene of the crime. Batman confronted The Joker at the end of the film (Batman knew Jack Napier was The Joker) with the fact that The Joker/Jack Napier killed his parents.

In the comic books, Joe Chill murdered both of Bruce's parents. Blick appeared on guest spots on the TV series' "Blackadder Goes Fourth", "Jeeves and Wooster", and "Sensitive Skin".
