Silverchair had an astonishing seven nominations in 2007. "Young Modern" was their first album since "Diorama" in 2002.
2. Best Independent Release was won by which artist?

Answer: The John Butler Trio - "Grand National"

"Grand National" was a unique album, using a very wide variety of instruments. "Grand National" went three times platinum.
3. The winner of Best Pop Release was whom?

Answer: Sarah Blasko - "What the Sea Wants, the Sea Will Have"

Two songs from the album made it onto the 2006 Triple J Hottest 100. "Explain" made it to number 79 and "Always on this Line" reached number 58. The album reached Gold status.

All five of Silverchair's albums ("Frogstomp," "Freak Show," "Neon Ballroom," "Diorama" and "Young Modern") debuted at number one on the ARIA charts. They are the only band ever to do so.

Silverchair formed in Newcastle, NSW. The band won a competition in 1994 called "Pick Me," run by TV station SBS. The prize included a recording done by radio station Triple J, and airplay on the station.

Aussie's most famous country singer. The single "Once in a Lifetime," broke the record for the highest-debuting country single on the Billboard charts. This was then broken by "More Than a Memory," by Garth Brooks.

Her album, "On a Clear Night," debuted at number one on the ARIA charts and went three times platinum. Neil Finn from Crowded House played electric guitar for Higgins' single, "Peachy."

Gotye. One of the most unique musicians around. He even released an album of other artists covering his songs. Then, Gotye, released songs of him covering people covering his own songs.
