Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Fate fell short this time, your smile fades in the summer."

Answer: Feeling This

Hitting number two on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks Chart and number fifteen on the UK Singles Chart, "Feeling This" was the first of several singles to spawn from Blink-182's eponymous fifth album. More than most tracks, "Feeling This" makes use of prominent harmonies between DeLonge and Hoppus, especially in the last chorus.

It became one of the band's best-received songs of the 2000s.
2. "Black and white picture of her on my wall."

Answer: The Rock Show

The first single from the band's fourth album, "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket", "The Rock Show" is simply about meeting and falling in love with a girl at...well, a rock show in California. Bassist Mark Hoppus, prompted to write a cheesy, catchy single, allegedly wrote this one in ten minutes.

Naturally, it became the most popular single off the record, hitting number two on the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks Chart.
3. "Tidal waves they rip right through me."

Answer: Down

Reaching number ten on the Billboard Alternative Airplay Chart, "Down" was the third single from the band's fifth album (titled "Blink-182") and it continued their trend of more mature lyrics and instrumentation that, as many critics would note, came from a tendency to go more downcast with both the contents of their songs and the tone of them. "Down", like the other singles on the album before it ("Feeling This" and "I Miss You"), was about a relationship.
4. "She left me roses by the stairs."

Answer: All the Small Things

The second single from "Enema of the State", "All the Small Things" was purpose-built to be a radio hit and, unsurprisingly, it worked, netting Blink-182 their most popular single yet reaching number one on the Billboard Alternative Airplay Chart and number six on the Billboard Hot 100 (it reached number two on the UK Singles Chart too).

The song eventually reached all corners of the pop culture world, appearing in the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" TV show, the end credits of "Charlie's Angels" (2000), the "Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band" video games and, of course, when the band performed it on "The Simpsons".
5. "Did I get this straight?"

Answer: Up All Night

Following the release of their eponymous album, Blink-182 went on hiatus for six years during which Hoppus and Barker would form the band +44 and vocalist/guitarist Tom DeLonge would create Angels & Airwaves. It was only after Travis Barker's near-fatal plane crash that the trio reunited to make new music, putting aside past differences, and it was with that that they released "Neighbourhoods", their sixth album, in 2011. "Up All Night" was the first track heard from that record and it topped off at number three on the Billboard Alternative Airplay Chart. DeLonge left the band again shortly after that.
6. "I cannot sleep, I cannot dream tonight."

Answer: I Miss You

The all-acoustic second single from the band's eponymous album, "I Miss You" was, to some degree, Blink-182's most popular song, selling more copies to listeners than all of their previous tracks (including those that charted higher and had more radio airplay).

It was a more mature turn for the band and one of their most complicated to produce; they claimed that there were more than six dozen instruments used and layered throughout. The song hit number one on the Billboard Alternative Airplay Chart.
7. "Well I guess this is growing up."

Answer: Dammit

Though Blink-182 released "Cheshire Cat", their first album, in 1995, it was their sophomore record, "Dude Ranch", that started the momentum that would carry them into the skater punk wave at the turn of the century. "Dammit" was one of the songs from that second album and it was the only one to chart in the U.S. (peaking at number eleven on the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart).

The song was subsequently used in the 1998 film "Can't Hardly Wait", starting a trend of the band's hits becoming standard soundtrack fare in teen comedies.
8. "Let's make this last forever."

Answer: First Date

While Mark Hoppus was writing "The Rock Show" based on the 'write a catchy, cheesy song' prompt, vocalist Tom DeLonge wrote "First Date" within the same amount of time. The track became the second single off "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket", hitting the airwaves six months after its predecessor and peaking at number six on the Billboard Alternative Airplay Chart. Only one other track from the album, "Stay Together for the Kids", made it as a single.
9. "I never conquered, rarely came."

Answer: Adam's Song

The third and final single from "Enema of the State", "Adam's Song" was perhaps their most solemn release. Written about suicide and depression, it's a track that carries a lot of weight with both fans and the band; at one point, Blink-182 stopped playing it at live shows altogether, feeling that it was too heavy a track to continue performing.

It hit number two on the Billboard Alternative Airplay Chart.
10. "Nobody likes you when you're twenty-three."

Answer: What's My Age Again?

The first of the band's singles to feature Travis Barker instead of Scott Raynor, "What's My Age Again?" was the hit that catapulted the band into the mainstream. Its catchiness made it a common track to be found on MTV and its popularity helped lead Blink-182's third album, "Enema of the State", to go 5x Platinum in the United States.

Despite this, it topped out at only number fifty-eight on the Billboard Hot 100, even though it was the fourth most-played track on alternative radio stations in 1999. Oh yeah, and this was the one where they ran naked through Los Angeles in the music video.
