The Clash incorporated various styles into their music, including reggae and dub. Jamaican Willi Williams recorded his song "Armagideon Time" in 1977.
2. "He's Gonna Step on You Again", originally released by John Kongos in 1971, was covered in 1990 under the title "Step On" by which "Madchester" band?

Answer: Happy Mondays

Kongos co-wrote the song with Christos Demetriou. His recording is notable for including a loop of African drumming. It reached number four in the UK charts. Manchester psychedelic band Happy Mondays only made it to number five with their cover, but it was their best-selling single.
3. The 1984 song "Hallelujah" has been covered more than 300 times, the first of which was by John Cale. Which Canadian singer-songwriter wrote it?

Answer: Leonard Cohen

"Hallelujah" took months to write - Cohen produced about 80 verses. Cale put together a version based on correspondence with Cohen, and used some lyrics Cohen had only used in live performances, to produce a cover version for the tribute album "I'm Your Fan" in 1991. Many of the subsequent cover versions could be said to be covers of Cale's cover.

Answer: Badfinger

"Without You" was written by Badfinger's Tom Evans and Pete Ham for their 1970 album "No Dice". Nilsson's 1971 cover sold millions all over the world, as did Mariah Carey's 1994 effort. Sadly Ham and Evans were both to commit suicide.
