The group released their first album in 1962 under the name Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass. They recorded several gold and platinum albums throughout the 60's until they "officially" disbanded in 1969, although they did record a later album. They would reform later under the name T.J.B.

His salsa/funk style of trumpet revolutionized jazz into a commercially viable style of music that would compete with The Beatles, Motown and rock.

The song hit number six in 1962. "Taste Of Honey" would be the second hit, climbing to number seven in 1965. "Rise" came much later and would be Alpert's second number one and gold single in 1979.
