Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Rhythmically moving monarch

Answer: Dancing Queen

"Dancing Queen" was No. 1 in the UK charts for six weeks in 1976. It is also the only ABBA single to have reached No. 1 in the US charts.

ABBA formed in 1970. The group consisted of two married couples, Anni-Frid and Benny and Agnetha and Bjorn.
2. Is your female parent aware

Answer: Does Your Mother Know

Released from the album "Voulez Vous" in 1979, "Does Your Mother Know" was unusual in that the lead vocals were sung by Bjorn, rather than Agnetha and Anni-Frid.
3. Mother of mine

Answer: Mamma Mia

"Mamma Mia" was released as a single in 1975. The successful stage musical of the same name opened in London's West End in April 1999 and the hugely successful film of the musical was released in 2008, with Meryl Streep in the lead role.
4. The title of the entertaining activity

Answer: The Name of the Game

"The Name of the Game" reached No. 1 on the UK singles chart in November 1977. It was ABBA's eighth single to reach the UK top ten.
5. Double helping of mellifluous product

Answer: Honey Honey

This track was ABBA's follow up to their first international success, "Waterloo". Released in 1974, "Honey Honey" failed to make the UK top 40, although it had reasonable success in other countries.
6. Gold coin two below par

Answer: Eagle

"Eagle" first appeared on ABBA's 1977 "The Album". At nearly six minutes long, it did not do well as a single.
7. Dosh moolah wonga

Answer: Money Money Money

"Money Money Money" was released as a single in 1976. It was a No. 1 hit in many countries, but only reached No. 3 on the UK chart and No. 56 on the USA chart. ABBA never really achieved the same popularity in the USA as they did in Europe and Australia.
8. Place the whole of your affection upon short Pine Tree State

Answer: Lay All Your Love On Me

"Lay All Your Love on Me" was released as a 12 inch single in 1981. It did relatively poorly for an ABBA single, only reaching No. 7 in the UK chart. It had a working title of "Yarrafat". I've been unable to find out why, if anyone can tell me I would be very grateful!

Maine's postal abbreviation is ME, and its nickname is "The Pine Tree State".
9. To the victor the spoils

Answer: The Winner Takes It All

"The Winner Takes It All" reached No. 1 in the UK in August 1980. The lyrics tell the story of the breakdown of a relationship and it was once voted the UK's favourite break-up song, presumably by those who enjoy a good wallow! Though sadly both the married couples in ABBA ended up getting divorced, they deny that the song is personal.
10. Mr Morse, please send urgent assistance

Answer: SOS

"SOS" was released from the 1975 album "ABBA". It was the next song after their breakthrough single "Waterloo" to reach the UK top ten.
