Answer: Bobby Darin

Bobby Darin was born in The Bronx in 1936. At age 19 he hooked up with former high school classmate Don Kirshner and got a recording contract with Decca Records. He met Connie Francis while working in the famous Brill Building, but after finding out of Darin's romantic interest in his daughter, her strict Italian father forbid him to see her, allegedly at one time chasing him with a gun. Darin's first big hit was in 1958 when "Splish Splash" hit the airwaves when hit number three on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts.

He followed with hits such as "Queen of the Hop", "Dreamlover", and his standard "Mack the Knife". Darin continued to record into the 1960s. His final Top 10 Billboard hit was in 1966 when "If I Were a Carpenter" reached number eight.

He married actress Sandra Dee in 1960. Darin who was cursed with ill health since he was a child died of heart failure in 1973.

Bobby Day, was born Robert James Byrd in Fort Worth, Texas in 1928. Moving to L.A. at age 15, Day began performing and recording through the 1950s. His biggest hit as a recording artist was the aforementioned "Rockin' Robin", which hit number two on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 1958.

He did, however, pen some major hits for others such as Thurston Harris who took Day's "Little Bitty Pretty One" to number six on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Clyde McPhatter and the Michael Jackson also hit with that song. Day also became part of the British Invasion in 1965 when The Dave Clark Five took "Over and Over" to the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts. Day passed away from cancer in 1990.

Yep, it actually happened. Helms followed up his initial hit "My Special Angel", with "Jingle Bell Rock" which was released just before Christmas in 1957. "Jingle Bell Rock" went to number six on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and received lots of airplay.

The song reappeared in 1958 and again went to number six on the charts. It appeared on the charts again in 1960 and made it to number 36, in 1961 it went to number 41 and in 1962 it hit number 56. Just for good measure in was included in the 1996 soundtrack from the motion picture called "Jingle All The Way", and charted again at number 18.

Helms died of emphysema in 1997.

Bobby Rydell was out of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and first hit the charts in 1958 with "Kissin' Time" which reached number 11 on the charts. He next popped up with "We Got Love" which became his first Top 10 hit peaking at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

He followed with such hits as "Wild One", "Volare", "Sway", and "Forget Him". In movies, he had a part in the motion picture version of "Bye Bye Birdie" (1963), and also appeared on numerous U.S. television shows during the 1960s. Into the 21st century he continued to perform both as a solo act, and with other former teen idols Fabian and Frankie Avalon; the three of them tour as "The Golden Boys".

"Come Back When You Grow Up" went to number three on the charts and brought Bobby Vee back into the Top 10 in 1967 after not having a Top 10 Billboard charting hit in five years. His prior Top 10 hit was "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes" which made it to number three on the charts in 1962.

He was a top seller in the early 1960s with tunes like "Rubber Ball" "Take Good Care of My Baby", and "Run to Him", all of which were Top 10 hits. An interesting note is that Vee's career started on a bittersweet note.

He got his start in Moorehead, Minnesota as part of a makeshift band that was put together to perform at the next stop on the winter tour and they stood in as a replacement for Buddy Holly after the fatal 1959 plane crash that took Holly's life.

Bobby Vinton was a solo artist who sang mostly ballads, and was able to weather the British Invasion of the mid 1960s, continuing to score with hits throughout the decade. Beginning in 1962 he scored major successes with tunes such as "Roses are Red (My Love)", "Blue on Blue", Blue Velvet", "Mr. Lonely" and "I Love How You Love Me" to name a few. With all that success, he may be best known for his adapted tune which is said to have been suggested by his mother, "My Melody of Love".

The 1974 tune (with some of the lyrics sung in Polish) became a multi-million seller and spent two weeks at the top of the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charts.

It was a song he initially didn't like and didn't want to record. Good thing he changed his mind. Goldsboro then began recording songs which charted on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Country charts for the next three years.

It was Bobby "Boris" Pickett who co-wrote and sang lead on "The Monster Mash", one of the biggest novelty hits of all time. The song was co-written by Pickett and Leonard Capizzi, and was a spoof on the dance crazes that were popular at the time. Pickett did impersonations of Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi in the lyrics of the tune, and was backed up by a group dubbed "The Crypt Kicker Five".

The tune reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in 1962 and charted again at number ten in 1973.
