1. "Bugsy turned to Shifty and he said 'nix, nix' I wanna stick around a while and get my kicks. Let's rock." Name this Elvis #1 hit.

Answer: Jailhouse Rock

A #1 song for Elvis for seven weeks in the fall of 1957. What a cast of characters... Bugsy, Shifty, Spider Murphy, Little Joe, et al!
2. "When I grew up and fell in love I asked my sweetheart 'What lies ahead?'" Name the artist.

Answer: Doris Day

The song, of course, was "Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Sera)", a #2 song for three weeks in 1956. It was also sung almost to the point of ad nauseum in the flick "The Man Who Knew Too Much" starring Day and James Stewart.
3. "Well I saw a gal walkin' down the street The kind of girl I'd love to meet She had blond hair and eyes of blue Baby I want to have a party with you" Name the song.

Answer: "Party Doll"

This was a #1 song for Buddy Knox in April 1957. As of the 1990's, he still did the occasional gig on nostalgia tours while in semi-retirement at his farm near Winnipeg, Manitoba.
4. "If I have to swim the river, you know I will And if I have to climb the mountain, you know I will And if she's hiding up in a blueberry hill Am I gonna find her, child you know I will" Name the artist of this #3 hit during the summer of 1957.

Answer: The Coasters

The Coasters were "Searchin'" and "Just like the Northwestern Mountie, you know I'll bring her in (gonna find her)"
5. "The old hooty owl hooty hoos to the dove". Name that tune.

"Chances Are" get's my vote as the ultimate cuddle song of the 1950's. It was #1 for a week in October 1957.
7. "You can swing it, you can groove it You can really start to move it" Name the song.

Answer: "At The Hop"

This was a #1 for Danny and the Juniors in January 1958. The lead singer of the group, Danny Rapp, committed suicide in 1983 at the age of 41. A quiz could probably be done on the number of 1950's artists who met an untimely demise at their own hands!
8. "I'm so young and you're so old This, my darling, I've been told" Name the song.

Answer: "Diana"

This was Paul Anka's debut hit, a #1 in 1957. He was 15 when he recorded it. I suspect everyone knows that "Diana" was the Anka families' baby sitter with whom Paul was smitten!

Answer: "Sugartime"

This was a #1 for the McGuire Sisters (Phyllis, Christine and Dorothy) for four weeks in February 1958.

Running Bear and Little White Dove were the doomed lovers in Johnny Preston's hit "Running Bear" which was released in late 1959 and hit #1 in 1960.
