Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I'm ashamed to say that when I was about 10, I went to see "The Kids from Fame", live at the Royal Albert Hall. Which of the following was not one of the "Kids"?

Answer: Duane

Even more embarrassing was the fact that girls in my class organised a protest at school, just because there had been one on "Fame" the previous night.
2. Embarassingly, I know all the words to the chorus of "The Ketchup Song". Which of these words does NOT feature?

Answer: Ola

I was trying to amuse my baby son on holiday by singing along to this song when it came on TV. The full words ("Aserejč ja de jč de jebe tu de jebere seibiunouva, Majavi an de bugui an de buididipi") are now fused into my brain and I can't stop singing them. Help me.
3. I bought several records by the only British band to win the Eurovision song contest during the 1980s. Can you name them?

Answer: Bucks Fizz

It's true - I owned "Making Your Mind Up", "The Land of Make Believe", and "The Camera Never Lies". I sometimes still have nightmares about it.
4. I also bought the first single by the Spice Girls. What was it?

Answer: Wannabe

For one insane moment in a London record store, I lost my head and really really really wanted to "Zig a Zig Aaaah".
5. I once horrified audiences in my home town by singing live on stage in a musical. The musical was the same one which had (many years earlier) been made into a film starring Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando. Which musical?

Answer: Guys and Dolls

And don't get me started on my acting.
6. There was a stage in my life when I actually had a "Kajagoogoo" poster on my wall. Can you name the lead singer of this British band of the early 80s?

Answer: Limahl

The poster came from the middle of "Smash Hits" magazine, which I think also used to run a comic strip called "The Adventures of Kajagoogoo". I suspect I probably used to read it regularly, but my mind has sensibly blocked this from my memory.
7. I have seen, live in concert, the only person to win the Eurovision song contest three times (twice as a singer, once as a writer). His first name's Johnny. What's this Irish performer's surname?

Answer: logan

Perhaps the most shameful thing is that I secretly still like his song "What's Another Year?".

Please God don't let anyone I know read this.
8. More shame from the stage. In front of an audience of living, breathing, human beings, I once performed "Beauty School Dropout" from "Grease". Who sang this in the movie?

Answer: Frankie Avalon

My mother liked it.
9. Honestly, my musical taste isn't normally that bad (I don't own anything by Celine Dion, for example). But that didn't stop me from buying "Oooh, Stick You" by Daphne and ...

Answer: celeste

What was I thinking? "Oooh, Stick You, Your mama too, and your Daddy", what kind of chorus is that? Where did it all go wrong?
10. Finally, perhaps my most embarassing musical moment was going busking in Paris, despite the fact that I had lost my voice the night before. My resulting performance of "Mrs Robinson" by Simon and Garfunkel sound like it was being sung by the girl out of "The Exorcist". Who wrote this song?

Answer: simon

There's a scene in an episode of "Friends" where Phoebe gets a cold, and loves the effect this has on her singing voice (it makes her sound all moody). Believe me, this is not realistic.
