Vernon and Gladys Presley gave birth to twin boys on January 8, 1935. Jesse Garon died at birth. Elvis' parents were highly protective of their remaining son and raised him with strict religious tenets in the Assembly of God church.

Answer: My Happiness

This recording was not heard by the infamous Sam Phillips when it was originally recorded. The office manager of Sun Records, Marion Keisker, left a note for Sam Phillips stating that Elvis had a great feel for ballads. Phillips had wanted a white artist who had the black sound, and these songs, covers of The Ink Spots classics, certainly had the feel he was going for.

By the way, Elvis' birthday recordings cost him $4.00 to record.

Priscilla was a fourteen year old school girl when he met her. Upon receiving permission from her step-father, Elvis courted the young lady, eventually winning her affections. Priscilla is the daughter of a Navy pilot who was killed in action while she was an infant. Her step-father, Joe Beaulieu, was a Navy captain.

Elvis plays Clint Reno in the 1956 film, "Love Me Tender". Clint stays home while his brother, Vance, goes to fight in the Civil War. Although this was Elvis' first appearance on the show, Sullivan was too sick to host his show, so Charles Laughton stepped in and introduced the viewers to Elvis. Elvis sings "Don't Be Cruel", "Love Me Tender", "Ready Teddy" and "Hound Dog" on this show. A little over a month later, Elvis returns to the show on October 28th where he repeats his performance, minus "Ready Teddy".

Elvis was quite accomplished in the martial arts. He even completed the studies necessary to be awarded a first degree black belt.

The last concert Elvis performed was at the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 26, 1977. He sadly passed away on August 16, 1977 in Memphis, TN after being found unconscious on a Graceland toilet. He was pronounced dead at the Baptist Memorial Hospital at 3:00 pm.
