'Killing Me Softly With His Song' was sung by both The Fugees and Roberta Flack, The Fugees' version is a little more upbeat than the version sung by Roberta Flack.

'Killing Me Softly' was written by Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel, and the first to record it was Lori Lieberman in 1972. Lieberman has claimed the song was inspired by Don McClean's 'Empty Chairs' and came from some words of a poem she had scribbled on a napkin. Fox rejected that account in a 2010 interview. He said: "Norman had a book that he would put titles of songs, song ideas and lyrics or something that struck him at different times. And he pulled out the book and he was looking through it, and he says, 'Hey, what about a song title, 'Killing Me Softly With His Blues'?" That was changed to killing me softly with his song.

Roberta Flack subsequently became aware of the song and wanted to record it, but felt it was not quite complete. She worked on it for three months and changed the chord structure ending with a major rather than minor chord. Her version won three Grammys.

Later, the English band The Fugees released a slightly changed version that hit the top of the charts in the UK and USA and won a Grammy.

The writer or co-writer of nine number one songs, Diane Warren, contributed 'How Do I Live' for the 1997 movie "Con Air". She offered it first to LeAnn Rimes, who recorded it in Texas and made a video.

But while Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of the movie, liked the song, he wanted some changes. Wilbur Rimes, father of LeAnn and producer of the song, did not want to make the changes. Warren then took the song to Yearwood, and that version appeared in the movie. She later said: "They all kind of hated my guts for a while. The hit makes everyone forget they hate you."

The song was released by the two singers simultaneously. Yearwood took it to number two on the Country charts and 23 on the Hot 100. Rimes made it a number two on the Hot 100.

Answer: J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers

The song is based on the true story of five teenagers involved in a car crash on Highway 341 in 1962. On a foggy night the car crashed into a truck and the three people in the front seat were killed. The two in the rear survived. In the song the driver was knocked out, but came around to see his girlfriend dying and gave her one last kiss before she died.

Wayne Cochran lived nearby and wrote the song. He released it and it was a local hit in Georgia. In 1964 it was was a number one and the first and only top 40 national hit for J. Frank Wilson & the Cavaliers.

In 1973, the Canadian group Wednesday took the song to the top of the charts there. In 1992 it was a number two on the Billboard Hot 100 for Pearl Jam.

'Faith' appeared on the first solo album of George Michael after he left Wham! The album won a Grammy and was a chart topper in the USA and a number two in the UK.

In July 1999, the band 98 Degrees hit the same spot on the Hot Country charts with their cover of the song.

In 1996, American garage band Nuyorican Soul released a cover of the The Salsoul Orchestra's 1977 recording 'Runaway'. It hit the top spot on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart. It was also a number one in Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom.

In 1961, Del Shannon had an international smash hit with 'Runaway'. It topped charts in the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.

Craig David is the odd one out, although he did record a song called 'Walking Away'. It reached number three in the UK in 2000.
