Written by 'Lonesome' Dave Peverett and performed by Foghat for the album "Fool For the City", "Slow Ride" was their most popular song. Sadly, Dave Peverett passed away in 2000, but Foghat rolls on, one of the best live bands I have seen.

When it was re-released in 1972 it achieved number two on US charts. Many versions shortened the song by cutting out the spoken poem "Late Lament" toward the end of the song. Justin Hayward wrote the song when he was 19. Graeme Edge wrote "Late Lament". They were members of The Moody Blues along with John Lodge, Mike Pender and Ray Thomas.
