"2 Become One" was their third single, in 1996, and topped the charts in the UK, but reached only Number 2 in Australia and Number 4 in the US. The Canadian rockers became known to their legion of fans simply as "BTO" They first recorded in the early 1970s and chalked up Top 40 hit singles and albums by the fistful. "Four Wheel Drive" was the title track of their fourth album and was released in 1975.
5. Which singer, known famously as 'The Man in Black", sang: "How high's the water, mama? Five feet high and risin' How high's the water, papa? Five feet high and risin' Well, the rails are washed out north of town We gotta head for higher ground We can't come back till the water comes down, Five feet high and risin'..."?

Answer: Johnny Cash

"Five Feet High and Rising" was the title tack of a 1975 album. It was a compilation of tracks that had appeared on earlier Cash recordings.
Johnny Cash - "The Man in Black" - was born on February 26th 1932 in Kingsland, Arkansas, and died on September 12th 2003 in Nashville, Tennessee, U.S. Cash was generally pigeonholed as a country singer, but his music spanned such other genres as folk, blues and rock.
6. Which British band probably used a "Six Blade Knife" to protect the money they made for nothing (or even the chicks they got for free)?

Answer: Dire Straits

"Your six blade knife can do anything for you
Anything you want it to
One blade for breaking my heart
One blade for tearing me apart
Your six blade knife
Do anything for you..."

Between 1977 and 1995, Dire Straits were one of the biggest selling bands around, with most of their songs coming from lead vocalist/guitar hero Mark Knopfler. Their six studio and two 'live' albums between 1978 and 1993 all hit the top five in the UK, with three reaching Number One - "Love over Gold" (1982); "Brothers in Arms" (1985); and "On Every Street" (1991). The same three hit the top spot in Australia, and 'Brothers In Arms' hit the top of the US charts in 1985. The band sold well in the singles charts, but failed to take the top spot in the UK with any of their releases. 'Money For Nothing' (1985) hit the top in the USA and Canada in 1985. (The lyric "money for nothin' and your chicks for free" is referenced in the question.)
"Six Blade Knife" came from the self-titled 1978 debut album 'Dire Straits'.
7. In 1973, a majestic British band sang about 'The Seven Seas of Rhye". What was that band called?

Answer: Queen

"Fear me you lords and lady preachers
I descend upon your Earth from the skies
I command your very souls you unbelievers
Bring before me what is mine
The seven seas of Rhye"

Fear me you lords and lady preachers
I descend upon your Earth from the skies
I command your very souls you unbelievers
Bring before me what is mine
The seven seas of Rhye"

For 20 years from the early 1970s with Freddie Mercury at the helm, Queen were one of the biggest rock bands around. Between 1971 and 1995 they had 13 top five albums in the UK, with seven of those hitting the top spot. Success did not come as easily in the USA, with just one album at Number One.
Much of their success was due to the brilliant and flamboyant Mercury, but Queen were also a very solid musical band. Early on they latched on to the idea of producing music videos. Their 1975 UK Number One "Bohemian Rhapsody" was often cited as one of the best music videos ever.
"Seven Seas of Rhye" reached Number 10 in the UK in 1974.
8. Asking about a song called "Eight Days A Week" would be just too easy. Instead, can you identify which band sang about "A Figure Of Eight" when they weren't rocking all over the world?

Answer: Status Quo

"Yesterday, I couldn't wait
I thought today was gonna be great
Now it's here, I'm a mess
I fell in love with you, I confess
I'm out of phase, out of sync
So confused, I can only think in
A figure of eight
A figure of eight
Round and round
Never straight
To the point
I'm trying to make
My mind's only working in a figure of eight
A figure of eight..."

"The Quo", had some of the most fanatic followers of any British band in the latter part of the 20th century and into the 21st. Some critics dismissed the simplicity of their music, and even if they only had three chords, they were LOUD chords.
Status Quo were revered as a live band, rather than one that sold a lot of records. Between 1968 and 2008, just three albums made the UK top five and "Down Down" in 1974 was their only Number One single in their own right. For all their success in the UK and Europe, 'The Quo" failed to make a breakthrough in the USA, with just two very early singles charting.
9. Which Canadian rocker who once declared that everything he did, he did for his special one, also sang of a love that was on "Cloud Number Nine"?

Answer: Bryan Adams

Bryan Adams will probably best be remembered for his massive 1991 hit "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You" that went to the top of the charts virtually worldwide. The song featured in the movie "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" (1991) It stayed at the top of the UK charts for 16 weeks and for seven on the US Billboard charts. "Cloud Number Nine" appeared on the 1998 album "On a Day Like Today".

"And the moon is out and the stars are bright
And whatever comes is gonna be alright
'Cause tonight you will be mine - up on cloud number nine
And there ain't no place that I'd rather be
And we can't go back but you're here with me
Yeah, the weather is really fine - up on cloud number nine..."
10. Which hard-living, hard-rocking California band reckoned they had ten seconds to love?

Answer: Mötley Crüe

"Ten Seconds To Love
Ten Seconds To Love
Pull My Trigger
My Guns Loaded With Your Love"
"The Crue" first emerged in the Los Angeles scene in 1981 and they had 10 years of success before another 10 of internal acrimony. Some members also endured periods of addiction and imprisonment "Dr Feelgood" gave them a 1991 US Number One album, but "Without You" was their best single (Number 8 in 1989).
