1. "She likes to go to discos but she's never on her own." What song is this line from?

Answer: Cool for Cats

"I kiss her for the first time and then I take her home.
I'm invited in for coffee and I give her dog a bone.
She likes to go to discos but she's never on her own."

The title "Cool for Cats" was based off of a TV show in the UK that regularly showed rock and roll music acts.
2. "Funny how you still find me right here at home." What song is this line from?

Answer: Is That Love

"Beat me up with your letters, your walk out notes.
Funny how you still find me right here at home.
Legs up with a book and a drink. Now is that love that's making you think?"

Another well-known artist, Elvis Costello, was one of the producers for this single, along with Roger Bechirian.
3. "She made a call to a sympathetic friend and made engagements." What song is this line from?

Answer: Another Nail In My Heart

"The case was pulled from under the bed.
She made a call to a sympathetic friend and made arrangements.
The door was closed, there was a note.
I couldn't be bothered, maybe I'll choke no more engagements."

The title is "Another Nail In My Heart," but Glen Tilbrook, lead singer, actually says or it sounds like "another nail for my heart."
4. "The cat has got his tongue. Now she bangs on his drum." What song is this line from?

Answer: Annie Get Your Gun

"He's not into miracles, sees life all too cynical.
The cat has got his tongue. Now she bangs on his drum."

"Annie Get Your Gun" shares its name with a musical, and it was the last single before the band broke up. They came back together again three years later.
5. "I looked around to find her but she had gone." What song is this line from?

Answer: Goodbye Girl

"Sunlight on the lino woke me with a shake.

Goodbye girl. Goodbye girl. Goodbye girl."

"Goodbye Girl" has been recorded in three different versions: one for the album, one as a UK single, and one as a US single.
6. "I bought a toothbrush, some toothpaste, a flannel for my face." What song is this line from?

Answer: Tempted

"I bought a toothbrush, some toothpaste, a flannel for my face.
Pajamas, a hairbrush, new shoes and a case."

"Tempted" did not do nearly as well on the charts as some of Squeeze's other songs, but it is very well known for its use in various commercials.
7. "Forever there'll be a heaven in your kiss." What song is this line from?

Answer: Take Me I'm Yours

Answer: Pulling Mussels (From the Shell)

And I feel like William Tell.
Maid Marion on her tiptoed feet.
Pulling mussels from the shell."

"Pulling Mussels (From the Shell)" is believed to be the only single where all of the band comes in on the very first note. This is controversial, since some believe there is a bass note before the others.
9. "If you ever change your mind, which you do from time to time." What song is this line from?

Answer: Slap and Tickle

"If you ever change your mind, which you do from time to time.
Never chew a pickle with a little slap and tickle.
You have to throw a stone to get the pool to ripple."

"Slap and Tickle" could be a reference to the funky bass style on this song by Harry Kakoulli.
10. "And started me on Monday, so I had a bath on Sunday." What song is this line from?

Answer: Up the Junction

"I got a job with Stanley. He said I'd come in handy.
And started me on Monday, so I took a bath on Sunday."

When the lyrics say "junction," they are referring to Clapham Junction, a railway station in Battersea.
