Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "He is the Lord, forever His truth shall reign. Heaven and earth rejoice in His holy name."

Answer: He is Exalted

From "Songs 4 Worship: Shout to the Lord" (orange). This song was written by Twila Paris in 1985. She sings the song on the CD, too. This song is one of my favorites. It's so simple, but it has a very deep meaning that drills straight to the heart.
2. "Lord let me lift up those who are weak. And may the prayer of my heart always be..."

Answer: Make Me a A Servant

From "Songs 4 Worship: Give You My Heart" (purple). The song was written by Kelly Willard in 1982. She performs the song on this CD. This song is beautiful. I learned this song when I was a young child in sunday school and its words have never left me.
3. "Pour out Your power and love as we sing holy, holy, holy."

Answer: Open the Eyes of my Heart

This song can be found on "Songs 4 Worship: Give You My Heart". It was written by Paul Baloche. It was inspired by Ephesians 1:18, which says "I pray that the eyes of your heart would be enlightened."
4. "Every tongue in Heaven and earth shall declare Your glory. Every knee shall bow at Your throne in worship."

Answer: Ancient of Days

This song can be found on "Songs 4 Worship: Great is the Lord"(green). It was written by Jamie Harvill and Gary Sadler in 1992. It is performed by Ron Kenoly on the CD. The best version of this song is by Petra on their CD called "Petra Praise 2: We Need Jesus". They have a really cool rock version of this song. But the version on Songs 4 Worship is not bad either. :-)
5. "I love You, I need You. Though my world may fall, I'll never let You go."

Answer: Jesus, Lover of My Soul

From "Songs 4 Worship: Be Glorified" (blue). This song was written by John Ezzy, Daniel Grul, and Stephen McPherson in 1992. On the CD, it is performed by Darlene Zschech, who also wrote "Shout to the Lord", the best worship song ever. :-)
6. "Jesus, Prince of Peace. Glory, hallelujah. Jesus, Prince of Peace. Glory, hallelujah."

Answer: King of Kings

From the album "Songs 4 Worship: Great is the Lord" It was written by Sophie Cony and Nomi Yah in 1980. It is performed by the Maranatha Singers. This is a cool song because it sounds like a Hungarian dance. When we sing it at the contemporary service at my church, we sing it a few times, each time we sing it a little bit faster. It makes you just want to dance around in circles.
7. "And now, let the weak say, 'I am strong.' Let the poor say, 'I am rich' because of what the Lord has done for us."

Answer: Give Thanks

From the album "Songs 4 Worship: Shout to the Lord." It was written by Henry Smith in 1978. It is performed by Don Moen on the CD. The song was inspired by 2 Corinthians 8:9. This song is quite poignant, and has a resounding message. It reminds us of how much Christ has done for us and how much thanks He deserves for it.
8. "Hail Jesus You're My King. Your life frees me to sing. I will praise You all my days. You're perfect in all Your ways."

Answer: Victory Chant

This song appears on "Songs 4 Worship: Great is the Lord." It was written by Joseph Vogels in 1985. It is performed by Bob Fitts on the CD. This song sounds like a trumphant march...something that would be chanted at a victory parade. The coolest part is the echoing part. Usually, every line of the song is sung by one half of a group, and the other half of the group repeats it.

It's very interactive and it's cool.
9. "You are beautiful beyond description, too marvelous for words, too wonderful for comprehension, like nothing ever seen or heard."

Answer: I Stand in Awe

This song is found on "Songs 4 Worship: Be Glorified". It was written by Mark Altrogge in 1988. It is performed by Bob Fitts and the Integrity Worship Singers on the CD. I really, really like this song. It actually reminds me a lot of another song called "Let My Words be Few." which was written by Matt Redman.

The chorus of that song says "I stand in awe of You. Yes, I stand in awe of You. And I'll let my words be few. Jesus, I am so in love with You." :-)
10. "And I will worship You with all of my heart. And I will worship You with all of my mind. And I will worship You with all of my strength. For You are my God."

Answer: More Love, More Power

This song can be found on "Songs 4 Worship: Give You my Heart". It was written by Jude Del Hierro in 1987. It is performed by Keith Matten on the CD. I like this song and I think it has an important message, but I think it could be more powerful. For some reason, it just doesn't resonate as deeply within me as a lot of other worship songs do.
11. "And we offer up to You the sacrifices of thanksgiving. And we offer up to You the sacrifices of joy."

Answer: We Bring the Sacrifice of Praise

This is from "Songs 4 Worship: Great is the Lord". It was written by Kirk Dearman in 1984. it is performed by the Maranatha Singers on the CD. This is one of those catchy, simple chorus songs that get stuck in your head for hours. These kinds of songs are important because they often are things that are vital to remember.
12. "As we gaze on Your kingly brightness, so our faces display Your likeness, ever changing from glory to glory, mirror'd here may our lives tell Your story."

Answer: Shine Jesus Shine

This song can be found on "Songs 4 Worship: Shout to the Lord". It was written by Graham Kendrick in 1987. It is sung by him on the CD. This song might be the most powerful song I know. It makes me imagine stepping into His light and having all of His glory surrounding me. Who would trade that for anything? Not me.
13. "I have heard You calling in the night. I will go Lord, if You lead me. I will hold Your people in my heart."

Answer: Here I Am, Lord

This song is on "Songs 4 Worship: Give You My Heart". It was written by Daniel L. Schutte in 1981. it is performed by the St. Louis Jesuits on the CD. I think this song is such a strong and bold thing to say to the Lord. I also think that that is what He wants us to say to Him.

He has a plan for us, and He already knows what path we will choose, but He wants us to come to Him and be willing to go wherever He leads.
14. "With my mouth will I make known Thy faithfulness, Thy faithfulness. With my mouth will I make know Thy faithfulness to all generations."

15. "He is worthy to be praised and adored. So we lift up holy hands in one accord."

Answer: Blessed Be the Name of the Lord

This song can be found on "Songs 4 Worship: Be Glorified". It was written by Don Moen in 1986. He also performs the song on the CD. This song makes me cry every time I hear it. It has such a simple yet incredible message. It's one of those songs that just lifts up the name of the Lord and gives Him all of the glory.
16. "And the Lord wasn't jokin' when He kicked 'em out of Eden. It wasn't for no reason that He shed His blood. His return is very close and so you better be believin'."

Answer: Awesome God

This song can be found on "Songs 4 Worship: Shout to the Lord". It was written by Rich Mullins in 1988. He sings the song on the CD. The lyric in the question is part of the verses of the song. These verses are not nearly as widely known or used as the chorus is. I like hearing it with the verses better myself. It gives the chorus some context.
17. "I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart. I will enter His courts with praise. I will say this is the day that the Lord has made."

Answer: He Has Made Me Glad

This song can be found on "Songs 4 Worship: Shout to the Lord". It was written by Leona Von Brethorst in 1976. It is sung by the Maranatha Singers on this CD. This song is based on Psalm 100:4-- "Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name." Another catchy chorus based in the Psalms. I think this one is the best of all of them though.

It's such a happy song. It always makes me smile and always makes me feel, well, glad.
18. "Sing a song of celebration. Lift up a shout of praise. For the Bridegroom will come, the glorious One."

Answer: We Will Dance

This is on "Songs 4 Worship: Great is the Lord". It was written by David Ruis in 1992. It is performed by Andy Park on the CD. 19. "So exalt, lift up on high, the name of Jesus. Magnify, come glorify Christ Jesus the King."

Answer: Majesty

This song can be found on "Songs 4 Worship: Shout to the Lord". It was written by Jack Hayford in 1981. It is sung by Ron Kenoly on the CD. Another triumphant song. This song makes me want to fall down on my knees and shout my praise to God. It also reminds me that although He is my Friend, He is also King of kings.
20. "And I will praise You Lord. And I will sing of love come down. And as You show Your face we'll see your glory here."

Answer: Lord You Have My Heart

From the CD "Songs 4 Worship: Give You My Heart". It was written by Martin Smith in 1992. It is performed by Delirious? on the CD. Martin Smith is the lead singer of Delirious?. Martin Smith is also responsible for the songs "I Could Sing of Your Love Forever" and "The Happy Song". He is a very talented songwriter and I love hearing his music.
21. "And I believe He's here now, standing in our midst. Here with the power to heal now, and the grace to forgive."

Answer: I Believe in Jesus

This is on "Songs 4 Worship: Great is the Lord". The song was written by Marc Nekson in 1987. It is performed by Keith Matten on the CD. I love this simple proclamation of believing in Jesus. Sometimes, it is important just to stand up and say that you believe.

Answer: Surely the Presence of the Lord

This song can be found on "Songs 4 Worship: Be Glorified". It was written by Lenny Wolfe in 1977. It is performed by the Brentwood Singers in the CD. This song has beautiful lyrics, but it should be more up tempo. In my opinion, the presence of the Lord is an exciting and joyous thing. It should be a celebration.
23. "I will not forget Your love for me and yet my heart forever is wandering. Jesus be my guide, hold me to Your side, and I will love You to the end."

Answer: Thy Word

This song can be found on "Songs 4 Worship: Shout to the Lord". It was written by Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith in 1984.Amy sings the song on this CD. It is based on Psalm 119:105 which says "Your word is lamp to my feet and a light to my path." I first heard this song because of my mother who is a crazy Amy Grant fan. From there, I listened to other Amy Grant songs and fell in love with her music. I would recommend everyone buy "The Collection" which is her greatest hits album, and you will see what I mean.
24. "Lord use our voices. Lord use our hands. Lord use our lives, they are Yours."

Answer: We Are An Offering

This is from "Songs 4 Worship: I Give You My Heart". It was written by Dwight Liles in 1984. It is performed by Chris Christian on the CD. This song is an important thing to say to God. He already wants to use us, but He won't until we are willing to let Him.
