Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 'Year of the Cat'

Answer: Al Stewart

A 1976 pop classic from a man who also scored with 'Time Passages' and 'On the Border'.
2. 'Black Dog'

Answer: Led Zeppelin

From the mighty 1971 album that also contained 'Stairway to Heaven'.
3. 'Sure He's A Cat'

Answer: The Cats

All bands from Holland but The Cats were a sure fire singles band that produced more hits, such as 'Lea', 'One Way Wind', 'Be My Day' and 'Marian'.
4. 'I Love My Dog'

Answer: Cat Stevens

A 1966 hit long before he became Yussuf Islam. This was the time of 'Matthew and Son'.
5. 'An Cat Dubh'

Answer: U2

On their 1980 debut 'Boy' there's this strangely titled song. I doubt very much if it has anything to do with cats.
6. 'Diamond Dogs'

Answer: David Bowie

From the 1974 album with the same name. Need I tell you more about the Thin White Duke? I don't think so.
7. 'Me and you and a dog named Boo'

Answer: Lobo

A bit of a one hit wonder, this gentle, almost Country song.
8. 'A Salty Dog'

Answer: Procol Harum

Another classic single from this British five piece. Six, if you count lyricist Keith Reid. We all know 'A Whiter Shade of Pale', 'Homburg' and 'Conquistador'.
9. 'Cat Food'

Answer: King Crimson

Experimentalism was (and still is) mainman Robert Fripp's objective. Taken from the 1970 LP 'In the Wake of Poseidon'.
10. 'I hate these Doggone Blues'

Answer: Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown

Many have done this song, but you'll find Brown's version on his album 'Standing my ground'.
11. 'Cat's Squirrel'

Answer: Jethro Tull

From their 1968 debut 'This Was'. It is in fact a traditional arranged by guitarist Mick Abrahams. He later on founded Blodwyn Pig.
12. 'Cat's Eye - Yellow Fever (Running)'

Answer: Van Der Graaf Generator

This one comes from a 1977 album called 'The Quiet Zone/The Pleasure Dome'. Prog-rock at its finest.
13. 'Can Your Pussy Do The Dog?'

Answer: The Cramps

Punkabilly galore! Band members were Poison Ivy, Lux Interior, Nick Knox and Kid Congo. What else can you do?
14. 'Walking The Dog'

Answer: Rufus Thomas

An early hit for Rufus (1963). Before that he scored with 'Bear Cat' as an answering hit to Willie Mae Thornton's 'Hound Dog'. More cats and dogs anyone?
15. 'Cool For Cats'

Answer: Squeeze

The lads from Deptford, London. In their ranks the reputable boogie woogie pianist Jools Holland. For a while they were serious competition for Madness.
