Answer: Manchester

The Smiths came from Manchester. They formed in 1982 and broke up in 1987. This was their fourth and final studio album. Strangeways Prison was destroyed during a riot in 1990 and rebuilt. It was renamed Her Majesty's Prison, Manchester. It was the scene of the last (simultaneous) hanging in Britain in 1964.
