Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What body part graces the cover of "Trompe Le Monde"?

Answer: Eyes

The album's title is a play on the term "Trompe De l'Oeil", which refers to an optical illusion in painting, so it's only fitting that the cover is adorned with eyes.
2. The album gets its title from the lyrics of one of the songs.

Answer: False

While other albums have gotten their titles from the lyrics of a song on it, this is the first album to buck that trend. It is, however, the title of the opening track.
3. In which song would you find the line "D=RxT"?

Answer: Space(I Believe In)

You would think it would be in "Distance..." but, no, it's not.
4. All songs on the album are Pixies originals.

Answer: False

The song "Head On" is a Jesus and Mary Chain song.
5. Two of the songs make reference to universities. One is "U-Mass"- what is the other?

Answer: Trompe Le Monde

It took me a while to realize that "U-Mass" stood for University of Massachusetts. Which is pretty sad, given that it's one of the lyrics. The song "Trompe Le Monde" references Washington State and uses a sample from their sports team chant.
6. What is the name of the tabla player on this album?

Answer: Jefrey

It's 'Jefrey with one f, one f, Jefrey' and he is 'so spacious'. This is from the song 'Space(I Believe In)', which, while the title makes it sound like it's a sci-fi song, it's really just a filler song for the album.
7. This album introduced a new member who would go on to play with Black Francis when he changed his name to Frank Black. What is this person's name?

Answer: Eric Drew Feldman

Eric Drew Feldman played keyboards for "Trompe Le Monde". He previously played with Pere Ubu and Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band.
8. There was another band practice nearby while the Pixies made this album. Whose band was it?

Answer: Ozzy Osbourne

The song 'Planet of Sound' is supposedly a reference to the noise of the band bleeding over to their studio.
9. The Jesus and Mary Chain did not like the Pixies' cover of "Head On".

Answer: False

Apparently, upon hearing the Pixies version, they said "This is how it should sound".
10. Which song is based loosely on an architect's life?

Answer: Alec Eiffel

The song is about Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, who built, of course, the Eiffel Tower.
