Born in Helsinki, Finland on 22 November 1976. Ville Valo is son of Kari and Anita Valo. He also a younger brother named Jesse who is a professional Thai Boxer. He is half Finnish and half Hungarian, his father being Finnish and his mother being Hungarian. Ville Valo's full name (Ville Hermanni Valo) translates into English as William Herman Light.

Ville played in the band B.L.O.O.D from 1986-1989. He was also involved in numerous other musical projects.
