Mykel and Carli Allen were fans of Weezer even before the "Blue Album", followed the band on tour during the summer, and often gave cookies to them backstage. Tragically, the twins died at age 17 in a car crash. About two weeks prior to the accident, Rivers wrote a song entitled "Mykel and Carli" which contains the line "...'til the schoolbus came and took my friends away, now I'm left alone at home to sit and think all day..." It is often believed that Rivers wrote this song in honor of Mykel and Carli after they died in the crash, thus the "schoolbus" reference. Actually, the "schoolbus" is symbolic of the fact that Mykel and Carli would soon be returning to school, and the band wouldn't see them again for months.
