Dctalk was formed in 1988 in Lynchburg, Virginia by Tobymac, Kevin Max and Michael Tait and lasted 12 years. The band debuted with a self-titled CD and then produced five CDs and a Christmas album before the band's break-up in 2000 after which the members each went solo. Their final CD, an EP, was entitled "Solo" and featured two songs from each of the members solo career.

Kevin Michael McKeehan was born in Fairfax, Virginia on October 22, 1964. In 1988 he and college classmates Michael Tait and Kevin Max formed Dctalk. In 2000 he went solo and released his first solo album "Momentum". Since then he's released multiple albums including some remix albums, a Christmas album and a live album.

John Cooper is the lead singer and bassist of Christian rock band Skillet and sang on the title track of Tobymac's fourth studio album "Tonight" which was released in 2010. Trevor McNevan is the lead singer of Christian rock band Thousand Foot Krutch.

On November 22, 1963 JFK was shot by Lee Harvey Oswald while he was participating in a parade in Dallas. President Kennedy died before he could be gotten to the nearest hospital. Lyndon Johnson who was Vice-President of the USA was sworn in as President of the USA later that day.
