CLAIRE McCaskill was elected junior Senator from the state of Missouri in 2006, narrowly defeating incumbent James Talent. She was the first woman to be elected in her own right to the Senate from Missouri.

Saint CLARE of Assisi (1194-1253) was the founder of the Order of St Clare, also known as the Poor Clares. She worked with St Francis of Assisi. Her feast day is August 11.

CLARA Barton (1821-1912) was a nurse and teacher who is best known for creating the American Red Cross shortly after serving in the US Civil War. Her home in Glen Echo, Maryland (a suburb of Washington DC) is a National Historic Site.

Dick CLAIR won three Emmys for his writing on the "Carol Burnett Show" in 1974, 1975 and 1978. He also wrote for "Soap" and "The Facts of Life." When he died in December 1988, his body was cryogenically frozen.

JUNE Carter Cash was married to singer Johnny Cash from 1968 to her death in 2003. Reese Witherspoon won an Academy Award playing her in "Walk The Line." As her second marriage was dissolving and she fell in love with Johnny, June wrote the legendary song "Ring of Fire."

JADE Jagger is a jewelry designer in Paris. She is the daughter of Mick and Bianca Jagger, and was born October 21, 1971.

JEAN Reno was actually born Juan Moreno y Herrera-Jimenez in Casablanca, Morocco. His breakout role in the United States was "Leon" (aka "The Professional") which stars a young Natalie Portman. JEANNE Shaheen is the first woman in US history to serve as both governor and senator from her state. She was Governor of New Hampshire from 1997 to 2003. She defeated John Sununu in 2008 to become Senator.

GENE Kelly was perhaps the greatest song and dance man of the 20th century. Many people regard "Singing in the Rain" as the best musical picture ever. His pictures include "Anchors Away," "On The Town" and "An American in Paris."

LORN Brown was a baseball broadcaster for the Chicago White Sox, Milwaukee Brewers and NY Mets. During this time, he worked with legends such as Harry Caray and Bob Uecker. Lorn was well known for mispronouncing players' names.

MICHEL Ney is one of the most renowned figures in French military history. Napoleon named him a Marshal in 1804, and Ney played a critical role in every major campaign of the Napoleonic Wars. Ney sided with Napoleon during the Hundred Days and was executed for treason on December 7, 1815.

MYKELTI Williamson (also Mykel T.) played Benjamin Buford Blue, the shrimp-obsessed friend of Forrest Gump in the 1994 film. Elgin BAYLOR was one of the greatest stars in NBA history. A Rookie of the Year, he was an 11-time All Star (1959-1970). He scored 23,149 points during his career, in only 846 games. Many of Baylor's records remained near the top of the charts 40 years after he retired.
