1. When was J.K Rowling born?

Answer: 1965

She was born on 31 July 1965 in Yate, South Gloucestershire in England to Peter James Rowling and Anne Rowling. When she was only four years old they moved to Winterbourne village. She went to St Michael's Primary School there.
2. J.K Rowling's real name is Kathleen Rowling.

Answer: False

Her real name is Joanne Rowling and she calls herself Jo. When she was first publishing the Harry Potter books, Bloomsbury suggested that she would use her initials instead of her real name because they thought that teenage boys would not be very excited about buying a book by a female author.

She did not have a middle name so she chose Kathleen, which was her grandmother's name, and therefore her initials became J.K Rowling.
3. Rowling was once married to the Portuguese man, Jorge Arantes.

Rowling spent a few years in Porto (in Portugal) teaching English. During this time, on October 16th 1992, she married Jorge Arantes who was a Portuguese TV journalist. They have one child named Jessica Isabel Rowling Arantes who was born on July 27th 1993. Rowling and Arantes separated in November 1993.

Rowling claims that the idea occurred to her in 1990 when she was on a train trip from Manchester to London. She says when she arrived in her flat near Clapham Junction (in South West London), she began writing instantly.

In December 1990 Rowling's mother lost her ten year old battle with MS (Multiple sclerosis). Rowling says that she was writing Harry Potter when her mother passed and that she had never told her mother about Harry Potter. The loss of her mother affected Rowling very much and she claims she knew how it felt to lose a parent, and that is why she introduced so much detail into Harry's loss of his parents.
6. What was the first award that Rowling won for "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone"?

Bloomsbury finally published "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" in June 1997. Five months later Rowling won her first award for the book - the "Nestle Smarties Book" prize. After that, in February 1998, she won the "British Book Award" for "Children's Book of the Year" and later on she won many other awards for her books.
7. In what year did "Warner Brothers" purchase the film rights to the first two novels from Rowling?

"Warner Brothers" purchased the film rights of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" and "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" in October 1998. The first movie was released on November 16th 2001 and the second movie was released on November 15th 2002. Both were directed by Chris Columbus.
8. What is the name of Rowling's second husband?

Answer: Neil Michael Murray

J.K Rowling married Neil Michael Murray (born on June 30th 1971) on December 26th 2001. This was Murray's second marriage as well. Murray was married to Dr. Fiona Duncan before; they got divorced in summer of 2001. Rowling and Murray have a son together named David Gordon Rowling Murray who was born on March 24th 2003, they also have a daughter named Mackenzie Jean Rowling Murray who was born on January 23rd 2005.
9. What is the name of the person who is claimed to be the inspiration for the "Harry Potter" character Albus Dumbledore?

Answer: Alfred Dunn

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, is the headmaster of "Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry" and was portrayed in the first two "Harry Potter" movies by Richard Harris. However, after Harris died he was portrayed by Michael Gambon for the rest of the series. Alfred Dunn, Rowling's headmaster at St. Michael's Primary School, is said to be the inspiration for Albus Dumbledore's character.
10. Who did Rowling dedicate "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" to?

Answer: Her daughter Mackenzie

Mackenzie Jean Rowling Murray is J.K Rowling's youngest child (with Neil Michael Murray), she dedicated her sixth book to Mackenzie who was born on January 23rd 2005.
