Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. True or False - all 4 members of the Beatles (John, Paul, George and Ringo) shared first names with English kings?

Answer: True

While there hasn't (yet) been a 'King Ringo' or a 'King Paul', Ringo's real name was of course Richard Starkey, and Paul's real first name was James (thanks to xKIWIx).
2. What word links William III and Mary II with a 2001 Andreas Johnson hit?

Answer: glorious

William and Mary assumed the throne jointly from James II following the so-called 'Glorious Revolution'. I've no idea whether Andreas had this in mind at the time.
3. Which Queen gave her name to a 'Kinks' song?

Answer: Queen Victoria

4. Which English monarch did Patrick Swayze sing about in 'Ghost'?

Answer: Henry VIII

Originally a Joe Brown song, 'I'm Enery the 8th I am I am' was used by Swayze's character in the film to annoy Whoopi Goldberg into helping him.
5. Which king is also a 'Supergrass' song?

Answer: Richard III

The Welsh band had a couple of hits a few years ago, including 'Alright' and 'Moving' but seem to have gone a bit quiet recently.
6. Which famous funk artist shares a first name with Elizabeth II's grandfather, and a surname with a former US president?

Answer: George Clinton

7. True or False? The artists called 'King', 'Queen', 'Prince' and 'Princess' have all had Top 40 hits in the UK?

Answer: True

'Queen' and 'Prince' I'm sure everyone knows. 'King' had various hits such as 'Love and Pride' in the 80's, and 'Princess' was a one-hit wonder with 'Say I'm Your Number One' in the same decade.
8. What word links Edward I with the Simon and Garfunkel song 'El Condor Pasa'?

Answer: Hammer

Edward was 'The Hammer of the Scots', which Simon and Garfunkel would rather have been than 'The Nail of the Scots'.
9. US states named after which Queen features in songs famously sung by John Denver and Laurel and Hardy?

Answer: Elizabeth I

The states are West Virginia and Virginia; the songs are 'Take me home, Country Roads' and 'On the trail of the Lonesome Pine'. Altogether now ...
10. Finally, what word links a former member of 'Fleetwood Mac' with the current residence of the Royal Family?

Answer: Buckingham

Buckingham Palace and Lindsay Buckingham.
