Answer: Nurse

Violet was a nurse aboard the HMHS Britannic which had been requisitioned as a hospital ship. For its use as a hospital ship the Britannic was renamed the HMHS Britannic. It also underwent a change of colour scheme. It was painted all white with a green strip and red crosses.

Of all the things to grab in an emergency! Violet made sure before she left the HMHS Britannic, that she had her toothbrush. Violet Jessop came very close to dying in this incident, as she was sucked under water and her head hit the ship's keel.

With all these close calls, you would think that she would get a job on land. Amazingly, Violet spent a total of forty two years working on ocean going liners and retired in 1950 at the age of 63.

Violet Jessop is the only known person to be on all the Olympic class ocean liners during these incidents. She passed away in 1971.
