Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the New International Version of the Bible, Exodus 28:28 states: "The rings of the breast-piece are to be tied to the rings of the ephod with _____ cord, connecting it to the waistband, so that the breast-piece will not swing out from the ephod." What color cord is this?

Answer: Blue

An ephod is an outfit that was worn by the ancient Jewish priests. It's a type of apron garment. Only high priests were supposed to wear these types of outfits. I find it amazing that they were so strict on the types of outfits they could wear into the tabernacle and even the color of the cords too.
2. According to the NIV version of Deuteronomy 19:5, "...for instance, a man may go into the forest with his neighbor to cut wood, and as he swings his ax to fell a tree..." What is the next line of this verse?

Answer: the head may fly off and hit his neighbor and kill him.

If the axe did hit his neighbor and kill him, Deuteronomy says the surviving woodcutter is then allowed to run to a city and his life will be saved. If the man does not run to the cities, then the people are allowed to chase him and kill him.
3. According to the NIV, in Isaiah 10:15 it asks the question, "Does the ax raise itself above the person who swings it...?" There is a second question in this verse; what is it?

Answer: or the saw boast against the one who uses it?

This could be interpreted as: is the axe more powerful than man? No, only a man can hold an axe up. In other words, you must be held accountable for your own actions. Nothing makes a person hold an axe up, yet you can set it down and use your own power.
4. In the New International Version of the Bible, Joel 3:13 says, "swing the sickle, for the harvest is ripe." What is a sickle?

Answer: It's a farming tool with a blade used for cutting

The rest of the verse goes on to say, "Come, trample the grapes, for the winepress is full and the vats overflow--so great is their wickedness!"

I believe that the harvest is the ending of the World. People are ripe, and willing to learn. The harvester removes the evil and wickedness from this Earth.
5. According to the New American Standard Bible, Job 28:4 reads, "He sinks a shaft far from habitation, forgotten by the _______. They hang and swing to and fro far from men." What body part is missing here?

Answer: foot

Job is telling us about the Earth's treasures here. They are opening a shaft, which is not in a well-traveled area. The men are swinging far away from the other men.

Job is one of the Bible books that I read if I'm feeling like nothing is going my way. He was tested by God and came out so far ahead by trusting in God and never steering from him.
6. According to the English Standard Version of the Bible, Ezekiel 41:24 says, "The double doors had _____ leaves apiece, _____ swinging leaves for each door." What numbers fill in the blanks?

Answer: two and two

Ezekiel was a Prophet of God, one of the major prophets actually. This book talks about the future and what the reader needs to do to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. In this chapter he was referring to the Temple and the Most Holy Place and what it looked like.
7. According to the New Living Translation, Proverbs 26:14 mentions that "as a door swings back and forth on its hinges ..." and goes on to mention a particular type of person. How does the verse continue?

Answer: so the lazy person turns over in bed.

The Bible says Solomon was one of the wisest men ever. Solomon wrote many of the proverbs in the book of Proverbs. God was pleased with Solomon and asked him what it was he wanted, saying he would give to him. What would you answer? Money, power or love? Solomon asked for wisdom and knowledge.
8. According to the New Living Translation Bible, Song of Solomon 8:9 talks about a woman. It says, "if she is promiscuous, like a swinging door, we will block her door with a cedar bar." Which of these canNOT mean 'promiscuous'?

Answer: Pure

The entire verse reads, "If she is a virgin, like a wall, we will protect her with a silver tower. But if she is promiscuous, like a swinging door, we will block her door with a cedar bar."

Solomon is saying that 'we will protect her", with a man, but not just any man, but a powerful and strong man, like a silver tower.
9. In the New Living Translation of the Bible, Revelation 14:15 tells us, "Swing the sickle, for the time of harvest has come; the crop on earth is ripe." What is true about the Book of Revelation?

Answer: It's the last book of the Christian Bible

The Book of Revelation is one of the scariest books of the Bible, in my opinion. It tells of the end of time. It is the revelation or unveiling of the apocalypse. No one knows for sure who wrote the book. Some people feel that John may have, based on how it is written, but there is no proof of this.
10. According to "The Message" Bible, in Isaiah 3:16, God says, "'Zion women are stuck-up, prancing around in their high heels, making eyes at all the men in the street...'" What are they 'swinging', in the next sentence?

Answer: Swinging their hips

Not only were they swinging their hips but, as the verse continues, "'Tossing their hair, gaudy and garish in cheap jewelry.' The Master will fix it so those Zion women will all turn bald -- Scabby, bald-headed women. The Master will do it."
