Answer: 1620

To form a parallelogram, you need two parallel lines intersecting with two parallel lines. Therefore the total number of parallel lines is 10C2 * 9C2. (i.e. 2 lines can be chosen from 10 parallel lines multiplied by 2 lines chosen from the other 9 parallel lines)
For those of you unfamiliar with Combinations: when you chose r things from n things, nCr = n!/(n-r)!r! and n! = n(n-1)(n-2)....1.
2. If a^b + b^a = 145 and a, b are positive integers, then how many such pairs are possible?

Answer: 2

The two values can be (144,1) and (4,3).
3. A and B are the roots of the equation x^2 - 6x + p = 0. We also know that 3A + 2B = 5. What are the roots of x^2 - px + 2070=0?

Answer: -45, -46

From the first equation, we know that A + B = 6 (for a quadratic equation ax^2 + bx + c = 0, the sum of the roots = -b/a). Solving A and B with the help of equation 2, we get A = -7 and B = 13. Now product of the roots is c/a, therefore 'p' = -7*13 = -91.
Solving the roots of the equation x^2 + 91p + 2070 = 0, we find that the roots are -45 and -46.

Between 2002 and 5002, there are 3000 years i.e. 7*400 + 1*200. The number of odd days in 400 years is 0 and in 200 years is 3. So the 24th November of 5002 is a Wednesday, and therefore the second Sunday of December will be 12th December.
(Odd days is the remainder when a number is divided by 7. This is used to calculate day and dates. For e.g. in a normal year, there are 365 days, therefore the number of odd days is 365/7 = 1. What this means is that if it is Tuesday today, then next year, it will be a Wednesday (unless there is a leap year in between).
