Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Cut text

Answer: Ctrl X

These keyboard shortcuts work on all Microsoft Office products like Word, Excel, Outlook, and Powerpoint. When typing into documents, it helps to use these for quick shortcuts.

Select the paragraph, words or sentences that you want to cut and then press the Control and X keys together. Using this combination of keys deletes the highlighted section from where it was originally and you can then paste it to the new location where you want to place it.
2. Copy a section

Answer: Ctrl C

Selecting a section of text and clicking Control + C allows you to copy the highlighted section. The difference between cut and copy is that copy only duplicates the selected text which can be pasted elsewhere. With cut, it is removed entirely from its original location and then pasted elsewhere.
3. Paste copied or cut sections

Answer: Ctrl V

If you have used either of the previous two shortcuts and cut or copied text, Control + V allows you to paste this in the new location. In Excel, you can cut or copy from one cell or a selection of cells and paste the information in a new cell(s). Similarly in Powerpoint, you can paste text or pictures on a slide or even cut/copy and then paste the entire slide.
4. Make text bold

Answer: Ctrl B

This is useful for titles or paragraph headings. Making the text bold helps the title or sub-title stand out for easy reading. It also helps to provide a structure to the document.
5. Underline a section

Answer: Ctrl U

Instead of making titles or subtitles bold to stand out, the other option is to underline them. If you choose, you can even bold text as well as underline it for better formatting.
6. Undo the last change

Answer: Ctrl Z

Control + Z allows you to undo or cancel the last operation. If you have typed something that you want to delete, you can use this shortcut. On the other hand, if you have deleted something by mistake, you can use this shortcut to restore it.
7. Select everything on the document

Answer: Ctrl A

This is a helpful shortcut if you need to select everything written on the document, especially if the document runs into multiple pages. The other option is to click and select the start of the section with your mouse cursor and then drag it to the end of the document.
8. Open a new document

Answer: Ctrl N

Control + N allows you to open a new document similar to the one you are currently working on. If you are using Word, it will open a new Word document. If you are using an Excel file, it will open a new Excel file.
9. Save a document

Answer: Ctrl S

The most important shortcut of all, when you don't have an autosave option. Click Control + S as often as necessary to make sure you save all your work. If you have a touchscreen, are using a mouse or if you just prefer clicking a button, then the floppy disk icon at the top serves the same purpose.
10. Print documents

Answer: Ctrl P

Once your computer is set up with a connection to the printer, you can click the Print icon on the screen to print documents. The Control + P shortcut allows you to print documents directly without clicking the print symbol.
