Answer: True

Both goals were fine headers from Henrik Larsson.
4. Who was the referee and what Nationality was he?

Answer: Lubos Michel - Slovakia

Michel was born in Stropkov, Slovakia, on May 16, 1968. He qualified as a referee in 1987. By 1993, he had risen to officating his home League games and then gained his FIFA badge in 1994. He was the fastest ever official to reach FIFA status (seven years).

His occupation was a school teacher and he could speak Slovak, Russian and English. He was yet to officate at a Major FIFA Championship, but it would only be a matter of time before he would.
5. Which Celtic player was sent off for two bookable offences?

Answer: Bobo Balde

Sadly, Balde was sent from the field for two late tackles. The first came in the second half of normal time, the tragic second came early in the first period of extra time. Porto also had a man sent off. Nuno Valente was dismissed also for two cautions, but his red card came in the 118th minute of 120 played.
6. Who were the respective Captains?

Answer: Jorge Costa and Paul Lambert

Costa lifted the trophy whilst Lambert could only look on and think of what could of been.

Answer: Three

Henrik Larsson scored in the 47th and 57th minutes, whilst Alenitchev had a goal sandwiched in between.

Contrast that to the 1967 European Cup winners team, that fielded a full team of Scotsman.
10. What was the attendence officially given by UEFA?

Answer: 52,972

It seemed like many many more in the ground. It was reported that Celtic fans out numbered the Porto fans by 3 to 1.
Also reports stated that there were ten thousand more locked outside the ground, all Celtic fans!
11. UEFA stated after the game, that Celtic had 75,000 fans in the City to watch the game. It was the biggest single away support ever in football history. But what City was the game played in?

Answer: Seville

Reports said that 75,000 Celtic fans had travelled to Spain from Scotland. Also, Porto did not sell their full quota of tickets, which would of been easily sold to the Glasgow club. The supporters behaviour was impeccable, as there was not one single arrest. That has to be something to be proud of.
12. Jim Kerr, Billy Connolly, and Rod Stewart, were three of the many celebrities who got a match ticket?

Answer: True

Musicians Kerr from 80s band Simple Minds, and Rod Stewart were seen together alongside Scottish comedian Billy Connolly.
13. A Celtic fan received a match ticket because of the death of a Porto fan?

Answer: True

A wonderful but tragic story this. Celtic fan John Macdonald was walking the streets of Seville, when he came across a inconsolable Porto fan sitting on the road side. Macdonald asked him if he was ok and the Porto fan replied, "My friend died last night in the river, he drowned". Macdonald offered the Porto fan a ciggerette which was gratefully accepted.

The Porto fan asked Macdonald if he had a ticket for the game in which the negative was replied. So the Porto fan took a ticket out of his pocket, and told Macdonald that he would like him to have the ticket.

Naturally, he was shocked and offered to pay for the ticket in which the Porto man said no. "I want you to have it and stand in my friends place". Macdonald stood with the Porto fans and explained why he was there.

He was welcomed with hugs and kisses from the Portuguese, and given honourary membership of the supporters club. He never found out the name of the man who gave him the ticket.
14. How many Portuguese sides had won the UEFA Cup prior to this final?

Answer: None

Porto became the first side from Portugal to win the UEFA Cup.
However, they had won the European Champions cup in 1987, and along with Benfica who won it two times.
15. Who was made man of the match by the UEFA delegation?

Answer: Henrik Larsson

Larsson got the nod for his two fine goals. He also in scoring those two goals, reached his 200th and 201st goals in a Celtic shirt.
