Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. You arrive at the stadium and get off your bus directly behind the Kop grandstand. Which road are you standing on?

Answer: Walton Breck Road

The only other road to run adjacent to the stadium is Anfield Road, at the opposite end of the stadium.
2. Outside the ground, in the corner of the Kop and the Centenary Stand, is a flagpole that was formerly a mast on a ship. What was the name of the ship?

Answer: Great Eastern

The flag pole was rescued from the Great Eastern, which was one of the first iron ships and designed by the famous engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
3. You're thirsty and go for a drink in the pub next to the Kop. What was its name in 2004?

Answer: The Albert

The Albert is the closest pub to Anfield, but being located in a dense residential area ensures many others to choose from.
4. You go outside and walk around to the back of the Main Stand to see the players arrive. Through which set of gates does their coach enter?

Answer: Shankly Gates

The Shankly Gates form the entrance to the Main Stand car park and stand beside the Hillsborough Memorial dedicated to the 96 victims who died in 1989. On a lighter note, for those who do not know, Gareth Gates is a British Pop Idol runner up.
5. It's time to enter the ground now. Once inside you see the away supporters to your left and the directors box below you. In which part of the ground are you sitting?

Answer: Main Stand

The Main Stand at Anfield is very dull and bland. Thus, there are no interesting facts about it.
6. In the summer of 2000, what was found to be wrong with the upper tier of the Anfield Road Stand, that required additional work to be carried out on it?

Answer: It swayed

During Ronnie Moran's testimonial, the effect of 2500 Glasgow Celtic fans jumping up and down resulted in a noticable 'wobble' to be felt. Additional supports below the tier were subsequently added to rectify the situation for the start of the new season.
7. Prior to its refurbishment and extension in 1992, what was the name of the Centenary Stand?

Answer: Kemlyn Road Stand

Two elderly sisters living in a house in Kemlyn Road, held up Liverpool's plans for development for over a decade. Despite the club buying every other house in the street and holding them empty so they could be demolished to make way for the new stand, Joan and Nora Mason refused to move out of their home until finally accepting a settlement in late 1990.
8. The Kop is beginning to fill up with supporters, but you can still make out what is spelt out by the seats. What do they say?

Answer: L.F.C

L.F.C is also spelt out on the Lower tier of the Centenary stand. Legendary Liverpool manager Bill Shankly's image was picked out in the seats at Deepdale, home of Preston North End Football Club.
9. It's almost kick off time and the players emerge from the tunnel. The Liverpool manager follows soon after and turns and sits on the left side of the tunnel (when looking towards the pitch)?

Answer: False

The manager, support staff, and substitutes, sit on the right-hand side, closest to the Kop. Like many stadiums, they used to sit in a covered dugout but the trend has recently moved towards pitch level so they get a better view of the match.
10. Liverpool score a goal! The electronic scoreboard is updated but what year was it installed?

Answer: 2003

Liverpool were one of the last topflight English teams to install a scoreboard in their stadium. The best score shown on it came in January 2004, when shortly before the match started, an error caused the score "LIVERPOOL 54, EVERTON 0" to be displayed!
