Lonborg won 22 games and led the league in strikeouts in helping the Red Sox win the A.L. pennant, despite a 3.16 ERA. The Tigers' Earl Wilson won 22 and the Twins' Chance won 20, as their teams tied for 2nd place, one game back of the Red Sox. The White Sox finished 4th as Horlen and Gary Peters finished 1-2 in the league in ERA.
