The Valley played host to Charlton's first Premiership game on 22nd August, 1998. Robinson opened the scoring in the 3rd minute and Neil Redfearn made it 2-0 just after the break. It then became the Clive Mendonca show, as he hit a 25 minute hat-trick. A penalty in the 65th minute followed by strikes in the 81st and 90th minutes.

2. Leicester City faced Newcastle United in their opening game of the 1994-95 season. Who scored their first goal in the top flight?

Answer: Julian Joachim

A crowd of 20,048 saw Leicester go down 3-1 to Newcastle at Filbert Street on 21st August, 1994. Joachim scored the only Foxes goal, while Peter Beardsley, Andy Cole and Robbie Elliott scored for Newcastle.

3. Who scored Nottingham Forest's first ever Premiership goal in the 1992-93 season?

The first live game of the new Premiership season saw Forest take on Liverpool at the County Ground. Sheringham got the only goal of the game in the 29th minute.

Brian Deane scored twice in this game. The first ever Premier League goal in history came in the 5th minute against Manchester United at Bramall Lane. Deane scored his second of the game with a 50th minute penalty before Mark Hughes pulled one back for the Red Devils in the 61st. The game ended 2-1 to Sheffield United.

6. Queens Park Rangers faced Manchester City at Maine Road on 17th August, 1992. Who scored QPR's first goal in the Premier League?

David White had put Manchester City 1-0 up in the 37th minute, but Sinton levelled the score two minutes after the break for QPR to share the spoils. QPR finished in 5th place in the first ever Premier League, and were the highest London based team, ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Chelsea, Wimbledon and Crystal Palace.

7. Derby County took on Leeds United at the Baseball Ground in a six-goal thriller in their first ever Premiership game. Who scored Derby's debut goal?

Jacob Laursen scored an own-goal to put Leeds in the lead in the 19th minute, but it wasn't until the 72nd when the game took on a new lease of life. Ian Harte sent Leeds 2-0 clear, and five minutes later, Sturridge got Derby's first. Another minute followed and Derby were level through Simpson. Lee Bowyer put Leeds 3-2 up with five minutes left, then Sturridge levelled the score at 3-3 with just three minutes on the clock.

The game was played in front of 17,927 supporters on 17th August, 1996.

8. Watford first graced the Premiership in the 1999-2000 season and faced Wimbledon at home at Vicarage Road. Which of these scored Watford's first goal in the Premiership?

Watford went down 3-2 to Wimbledon on 7th August, 1999. Carl Cort gave the visitors the lead in the 10th minute, then Kennedy levelled the score in the 17th from a penalty kick. Marcus Gayle put the Dons ahead again in the 28th before Ngonge equalised to make it 2-2 in the 71st minute. 12 minutes before the final whistle, Richard Johnson turned the ball into his own net to seal a 3-2 win for Wimbledon.

9. Bradford City earned a victory against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium in their first ever Premiership game in 1999. Who scored Bradford's first ever goal?

The Bantams had to wait until the 89th minute to earn the three points on 7th August, 1999. Bradford would stay in the top flight until 2001, where they finished bottom of the pile with just 26 points from 38 games.

Le Tissier had put Southampton a goal up in the 31st minute, but after the break, QPR hit back with three goals to give them a 3-1 victory. Les Ferdinand found the net twice in the 58th and 86th minutes, while David Bardsley scored the other in the 70th.
