Answer: Jean Tigana

Jean Tigana managed Fulham in their first season, and led his team to a comfortable position on the ladder. Tigana had a big reputation as a player in France, during the mid to late 80s and early 90s.

Edwin Van Der Sar arrived from Juventus with a lot of success behind him. The Dutch number one keeper had an excellent season protecting the goals, using his height to great advantage.

From Fulham's strong academy, Sean Davis was one of the brightest talents in England. A strong but quick mid-fielder, he was a regular Fulham starter, but handed a transfer request at the end of the 2002-2003 season. This was rejected, but departed the next season to Tottenham. After a string of injuries and lack of gametime, he was transferred to Portsmouth.

Barry Hayles was a club legend, and scored goals in all divisions for Fulham. He was sold to Millwall during the 2003-04 season. Louis Saha also scored regularly in the top flight, and these performances were seen by Sir Alex Ferguson, who snapped him up for a club record to Manchester United.
