During that time, Klinsmann helped Stuttgart to the 1986 German League Cup final, was the top goalscorer in the Bundesliga during the 1987-88 season, named German Footballer of the Year in 1988, and went to the 1988-89 UEFA Cup finals before losing to Diego Maradona's Napoli.
