Answer: Barry Bonds

Barry Bonds became the first MLB player to win the ESPY's Best Male Athlete award in 1994. NBA great Michael Jordan won the award the year before.
2. Who was the first pitcher ejected for a spitball violation?

Answer: Nels Potter

On July 20, 1944 vs the Yankees, St. Louis Browns Pitcher Nels Potter was ejected after being discovered for throwing the illegal spit ball. The first rule banning the spit ball wasn't ratified until November 1961.
3. Who is the first player to win a Cy Young award and the MVP award in the same season?

Answer: Don Newcombe

When the awards were announced for the 1956 season on November 21st 1956, Don Newcombe was the recepient of not only the Cy Young award but the MVP as well. Don Newcombe, the Dodger, was the first ever recepient of the Cy Young award that year.
4. Who was the first president to throw out a "first pitch" at a Major League game?

Answer: William H.Taft

On April 14, 1910, President William Howard Taft threw out the first cerimonial pitch to begin the game between the Senators and the A's.

Answer: Bob Feller

On April 16th 1940, Bob Feller threw the first opening day no-hitter vs the Chicago White Sox at Comiskey Park. Indians won the game 1-0.

Answer: Shigetoshi Hasagawa & Ichiro Suzuki

On Friday April 13, 2001, Mariners OF Ichiro Suzuki came up to the plate in the 9th facing Angels relif pitcher and fellow contryman Shigetoshi Hasagawa. Angels beat the Mariners 4-3 and Hasagawa picked up the win. Hasagawa also joined Ichiro on the Mariners the very next season.
7. Who was the first pitcher to strike out the first seven batters they faced in a game?

Answer: Denny McLain

On June 15, 1965, versus the Red Sox, Tigers pitcher Denny McLain came in to relieve Dave Wickersham after only 1/3 of an inning and struck out the first 7 batters he faced. McLain went 6.2 innings of relief and struck out 14 batters.
8. Who was the first NL player to be unanimously (100% of votes) awarded the MVP award?

Answer: Orlando Cepeda

The 1967 NL MVP award was given to St Louis Cardinals 1B Orlando Cepeda, and for the first time it was given unanimously. Cepeda batted .325 with 25 homers and a NL leading 111 RBIs.
9. Who was the first pitcher to win 20 games on a team that lost 100+ games in the season?

Answer: Ned Garver

Ned Garver of the St. Louis Browns went 20-12 for the 1951 season. The Browns ended their 1951 season with a record of 52-102. 1951 was also Garver's only all-star appearance. Other than 1951, Garver never won more than 14 games in his 14-year career.
10. Who was the first African-American Major League baseball player to win two consecutive MVP awards?

Answer: Ernie Banks

Mr. Cub himself, Ernie Banks became the first African-American to win 2 consecutive MVP awards (1958 and 1959). Roy Campanella nearly became the first, but it was broken up by Hank Sauer (1952) and Willie Mays (1954). Campanella won the NL MVP in 1951, 1953, and 1955.
