1. 1962: Who made his debut on August 18th at the age of 22, and would go on to miss a European Cup final through injury?

Answer: Denis Law

Law was signed from Torino in Italy, and marked his debut with a goal in a 2-2 draw against West Bromwich Albion. 'The King' scored an incredible 171 goals in 309 appearances for the club.

2. 1963: Who did United beat in the FA Cup final?

Answer: Leicester City

United won the game 3-1 and with it came their third FA Cup to boost their faltering league form, which saw the team finish three points above relegation. Paddy Crerand was also signed this year.

3. 1964: What position did United finish in the league this year?

Answer: 2nd

United finished on 53 points, four points behind champions Liverpool who had 57.

4. 1965: United won their sixth league title this year, but by what means?

Answer: Goal average

United and Leeds United both finished the campaign with 61 points, but United took the title with a goal average of 2.28 per game, while Leeds could only muster 1.60 per game. Leeds had their revenge however, when they beat United in the FA Cup semi-final 1-0 after a replay, after the first game finished without any goals.

'Le King' was born on May 24, 1966 in Paris, France, and began his career with Auxerre as an apprentice in 1983, and played for a number of clubs in France before signing for Leeds United in February 1992. Just nine months later he was a Manchester United player, and stayed loyal to the club until retiring from the game in 1997.

The match ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, but United scored three in extra time, to become champions of Europe for the first time. Bobby Charlton scored two, with Best and birthday boy Brian Kidd, who was 19 on the day, scoring the other.

The game took place on March 19th, and United finished in 11th place after this season.

Paddy Crerand retired from the game after 387 games and 15 goals for the club, while Nobby Stiles left to join Middlesbrough, after playing 396 games and scoring 18 goals.
