Mark Smith was drafted by the Sharks in 1997. He was the guy that always seemed to have a new hair color and a variety of goofy hairstyles. Besides being great at hockey, he played and sang in a band called "The Vinyl Trees".

Jonathan Cheechoo was often referred to as "The Cheech" and "The Cheechoo Train". He was the first Shark to win the Rocket Richard Trophy.
