On August 1st, 1972 in Atlanta, Nate Colbert (playing for the Padres) hit five homers in a doubleheader to tie the record (and drove in 13 runs, the most ever in a double header). Colbert, a St. Louis native who came through the Cardinals farm system, was in the stands that day in 1954 (he was 8 years old), when Stan hit those five homers.
