Niall was 'born and bred' in Dublin. His Dad is from Tipperary. When Niall quit playing soccer, he moved home to Ireland for a short time, living in Kildare.

Answer: Hurling

Niall played for his native Dublin in the 1983 Minor Al Ireland Hurling final, being beaten by Galway. Hurling is the worlds fastest field sport (not including ice-hockey), played by 2 teams of 15 players, each 'armed' with ash sticks carved into 'hurls'. All the options are branches of the GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association). Football is a field sport played between 2 teams of 15. Handball is a ball game played on a court of either 40ft x 20ft or 60ft x 30ft, either as a solo sport or as a doubles game. Scor is the least well known branch of the GAA and comprises something similar to a vareity show with singing, recitation, sketches and 'question time'.

Quinn stepped up and made the save. This defeat for Derby County was a big factor in the subsequent relegation of the club from the top flight of English football. As previously mentioned, Quinn was a gifted 'keeper as well as being a star striker. It is well known that while at major tournaments with the International Squad, Quinn regularly made a few quid for himself after training by challenging team mates to a penalty shoot out, with himself in goal.

This was mentioned by the then Irish manager Jack Charlton as a contributory factor for Irelands penalty shoot out victory over Romania in the 1990 World Cup Finals.
