Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. From whom does Peter absorb his very first ability?

Answer: Angela Petrelli

It his his mother's ability, dreaming of the future, that Peter absorbs first. He foresees his brother's car accident and learns about Nathan's ability to fly before it all happens.
2. What is Gabriel Gray's original ability?

Answer: He understands how things work

While it is not necessarily obvious at first, Sylar's own ability is to see how things work, "what makes them tick", just by looking at them. This allows him to know how to transfer abilities from others to himself.
3. Under what name is Adam Monroe known in the 17th century?

Answer: Takezo Kensei

Adam Monroe, an Englishman blessed with spontaneous regeneration, was known in Japan in the 17th century as Takezo Kensei, a mercenary. Trapped in the past, Hiro Nakamura is disappointed to see that this childhood hero, the one about whom his father told him so many heroic tales, was in fact a cowardly, greedy British immigrant who has no sense of honor at all. Hiro has to use his power to help Kensei make a name for himself and fulfill his destiny.

In fact, he helps so much that he does everything in his stead. By a quite delightful turn of events, it turns out that Hiro Nakamura was his own childhood hero...
4. Who is responsible for the train accident in which Claire saves a man's life in season one?

Answer: Meredith Gordon

It is in season two that we learn that the accident was caused by Meredith, Claire's biological mother, as she tried to escape the Company with her brother. Chased by a company man in a wagon, she tried to attack him with fire and the wagon exploded, causing the whole train to catch fire.
5. What is the message that Hiro-from-the-future has for Peter Petrelli and himself in season one?

Answer: Save the cheerleader, save the world.

Catchy phrase. Hiro comes back from five years in the future to tell Peter to save Claire. No hero has met nor heard of her at that moment. In the dark future where things went real bad, Hiro realizes after a thorough recap that Sylar killing Claire - and/or taking her ability as well - is the catalyst to their failure to save the world.
6. Who does Mohinder believe to be the most important person on his father's list?

Answer: Peter Petrelli

Mohinder's father's list of people with abilities turns out to be accurate. Of all those people, Mohinder believes Peter to be the most important, as he tells Nathan Petrelli in his apartment.
7. Which of these is not related to Peter?

Answer: Sylar

Claire is his niece, Nathan his brother, Arthur his father. Sylar is thought to be his brother at some point, but it turns out to be one of Angela's tricks.
8. What is Mohinder's job in New York City?

Answer: Taxi driver

In 2005, Manhattan's Taxi and Limousine and Commission estimated that about 38% of the island's taxi drivers were of South Asian origins. Who's afraid of stereotypes?...
9. Which of these characters dies first?

Answer: Brian Davis

This is where the "spoiler alert" really counts... Arthur Petrelli isn't really dead when Brian Davis, blessed with telekinesis, is killed by Sylar. Davis couldn't have been killed before Eden since Sylar uses telekinesis to try to kill her - which she does herself. It was never thought that Molly Walker was dead.
10. The final "battle" of season one occurs in New York City. Where exactly does this take place?

Answer: Kirby Plaza

Linderman and Nakamura both have their offices on Kirby Plaza, which is not a real place, unlike the other three choices.
