Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the season six Valentine's Day episode "Be Still My Heart", Robert Romano brings his dog into the OR for surgery. What other event(s) also occurred in this episode?

Answer: All of these

"Be Still My Heart" first aired on February 10, 2000. Isabelle Corday and David Greene seem to like each other in this episode, which is a storyline that is continued into many later on episodes. When Lucy and Carter are stabbed at the very end of the episode, it was one of the most dramatic ways to have a "to be continued" episode.
2. In the season seven episode "Rescue Me", Mark discovers that he has a brain tumor and Elizabeth discovers that she is being sued for malpractice. Elizabeth also discovers that she's pregnant! What holiday dinner did these two characters briefly mention their plans for in this episode?

Answer: Thanksgiving

This episode originally aired on November 23, 2000. As most United States citizens know, the U.S. celebrates Thanksgiving on the last Thursday in November. Thus, when Elizabeth was discussing with Mark that she wanted to have an American Thanksgiving dinner, complete with a turkey, one can assume without much doubt that they were planning for this holiday. (Mark had been thinking about not having a turkey.)
3. In the season seven episode "Piece of Mind", Mark Greene goes through brain surgery. What day was it supposed to be in the episode?

Answer: New Year's Eve

For those who didn't know, El Dia de Los Muertos is the Mexican holiday the Day of The Dead. They celebrate the lives of all their loved ones who have died on November 2nd each year, All Souls Day. "Piece of Mind" took place on December 31, 2000. At the very end of the episode, the television is on in Mark's hospital room, and it is officially 2001. Fireworks are going off, both outside the room and on the TV screen, as Mark tries to walk himself to the bathroom.
4. The season eight episode "I'll Be Home for Christmas", is Eriq LaSalle's (Peter Benton's) last appearance in "ER", other than his cameos in the later episodes "It's All in Your Head" and "On the Beach".

Answer: True

In "I'll Be Home for Christmas", Peter quits his job when Romano won't give him better hours. Peter is then granted custody of Reese and they both move to work at the clinic Cleo is working at. It is to be assumed that they lived happily ever after.
5. In the season nine Halloween episode "A Hopeless Wound", who are the only two hospital employees to dress up?

Answer: Carter and Abby

"A Hopeless Wound" actually aired on Halloween- October 31, 2002. Abby, who is a nurse, dressed up as a nurse. Carter was wearing a skeleton costume.
6. In the season nine episode "Hindsight", Luka goes to work hungover after a Christmas party. What was unique about this episode?

Answer: The scenes were shown in reverse chronological order

In "Hindsight", the season nine Christmas episode that originally aired on December 12, 2002, the scenes were shown so that the very last scene in the episode had actually happened first chronologically. Not only did the Christmas party prove that it was a Christmas episode, but there were guest stars playing elves and carolers!
7. In the season nine episode "A Boy Falling Out of the Sky", Carter tells Abby he wants to marry her. Coincidentally, this episode originally aired in the U.S. one day before what well known holiday?

Answer: Valentine's Day

"A Boy Falling Out of the Sky" first aired on February 13, 2003. Not only did Carter tell Abby he wanted to marry her in this episode, but Chen and Pratt's relationship gets more intense when Chen tells Pratt about her son that she gave up for adoption.
8. In the season ten Thanksgiving episode "Freefall", Nurse Samantha Taggart tries her hardest to get off from work in time to make her son, Alex, a home cooked Thanksgiving dinner. Alex had previously asked if he could invite a friend, who had no real family anyway, to come along. She said yes. Who does that friend turn out to be?

Answer: Luka Kovac

Sam doesn't manage to get off work in time to make the home cooked Thanksgiving meal. This is mainly due to the helicopter that crashed, exploded, then landed in the ambulance bay and killed Romano. Luka, Sam, and Alex go out to a restaurant for dinner instead. Sam then has a little talk with Alex about Alex trying to set her up with Luka. Alex denies it, insisting that Luka is his friend.
9. In the season ten Christmas episode, Carter is celebrating in Africa with Kem. Kem turns out to be an AIDS clinic worker who is pregnant with his child. What was the title of this episode?

Answer: Makemba

"Kisangani" was the last episode of season nine. In that episode, Carter returns to Africa to help out Luka. "Kem" and "Carter's African Christmas" aren't real episodes. At the end of "Makemba", Carter is trying to convince Kem to come back to Chicago with him to have their baby. Carter had to go back anyway to deal with something about his grandmother's estate.
10. In the season eleven episode "'Twas the Night", it is Christmas Eve. Pratt goes over to Chen's house after she quits her job due to needing to care for her father. Pratt tries to convince Chen against euthanizing her dad, but she decides to do it anyway. Was this Jing-Mei "Deb" Chen's final appearance?

Answer: Yes

This episode first aired on December 9, 2004. In addition to Chen and Pratt's storyline, Carter kissed Wendall, and Abby works with a new medical student: Jake Scanlon.
