Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "You are the weakest link. Goodbye." Which robot hosted a TV show in 'Bad Wolf'?

Answer: Anne Droid

Anne Droid was a robot version of Anne Robinson, presenter of the BBC game show 'The Weakest Link'. In the year 200,100, the Fourth Great and Bountiful Human Empire was secretly controlled by Daleks, and all citizens were eligible to be picked for a huge number of game shows that ran on the Game Station, a satellite orbiting the planet. Contestants who lost the game were transported on to a Dalek ship in order to be converted. Anne Robinson voiced the robot version of herself.
2. "Keep your voice down. They're everywhere." What were the names of the robots on board Starship UK in 'The Beast Below'?

Answer: Smilers

Smilers were the enforcers of a police state on board Starship UK. They were contained in booths and monitored the citizens. They had interchangeable heads that expressed their mood. If they were displeased with something they saw or heard, they would go from a smiling face, to a warning face, then to an angry face. People who displeased the Smilers were fed to the beast below.
3. "I hate funny robots." Who helped the Doctor and a small group of human colonists to escape from Mars in 'The Waters of Mars'?

Answer: Gadget

Gadget was designed and created by Roman Groom, a junior technician on Bowie Base One. It contained a camera, and was used for jobs on the base. Colonists there were rapidly becoming infected by something in the planet's water supply. The Doctor and the surviving crew needed to get off the planet, but the rocket that would take them to Earth had been destroyed.

In the end, the Doctor used Gadget to take the TARDIS key across the surface of Mars, unlock the TARDIS doors, and pilot it into the base.
4. "I... waited... for you." Which type of cyborg does Bill turn into in 'World Enough and Time'?

Answer: Cyberman

The Doctor, Bill, Nardole, and Missy responded to a distress call from a colony spaceship attempting to fly away from a blackhole. Due to time dilation, humans at the far end of the ship experienced time at a different speed. Bill was separated from the rest of the group and waited years to be rescued by the Doctor. For the Doctor, however, only minutes had passed.

By the time he arrived at the far end of the ship, Bill had been 'upgraded'.
5. "Well, at least I'm not a time-traveling, shape-shifting robot operated by miniaturised cross people." Which robot, commanded by miniaturised humans, could change its appearance in 'Let's Kill Hitler'?

Answer: Teselecta

The Teselecta and its crew travelled throughout history to punish criminals who had escaped justice. People were extracted and tortured near the end of their established timelines. In 'Let's Kill Hitler', the Teselecta was pursuing Adolf Hitler in Berlin in 1938. After the Doctor, Amy, Rory, and Mels landed in Hitler's office, the Teselecta identified a new target: Melody Pond.
6. "Are there aliens in this school?" Which murderous robot was the Doctor tracking down near Coal Hill School in 'The Caretaker'?

Answer: Skovox Blitzer

The Skovox Blitzer was a weapon built for use in a war. It was attracted to artron energy emissions and landed near Coal Hill School, where Clara and Danny worked as teachers. After it killed a community support officer, the Doctor trapped the Blitzer and tricked it into deactivating itself. He then left it drifting in space where it couldn't be a threat to anyone.
7. "This is a kindness." What were the medical robots called in 'The Girl Who Waited'?

Answer: Handbots

The handbots were white and silver robots in the Two Streams Facility on Apalapucia. They fulfilled the role of doctors and nurses to the patients there. Handbots had organic skin on their hands; it allowed them to 'see', to detect bacteria, and contained an anesthetic transfer. Handbots were not intentionally deadly, but they were programmed to look after Apalapucians who had a binary vascular system.

Therefore, some of the drugs they could administer would have been harmful to Amy and any other humans there.
8. "Run!" Which plastic artificial life forms were controlled by the Nestene Consciousness in 'Rose'?

Answer: Autons

The Nestenes lost their food supply planet in a war and were planning to convert Earth in order to replace it. The Nestene Consciousness was living underground below the London Eye. It controlled the Autons, which were made of plastic. The Autons were disguised as shop window dummies.

Some of them became animated in the basement of the department store where Rose worked. She was rescued by the Doctor, who then blew up the shop.
9. "Oi, Santa!" Which robots preceded the Sycorax in 'The Christmas Invasion' and worked for the Empress of the Racnoss in 'The Runaway Bride'?

Answer: Pilot Fish/ Roboforms

In 'The Christmas Invasion', robots dressed as Santa attempted to kill Rose, Mickey, and Jackie. The Doctor called them 'Pilot Fish', but in 'The Runaway Bride', the same robots are called 'Roboforms'. The Roboforms worked for the Empress of the Racnoss in 'The Runaway Bride'. They were also one of the species present to trap the Doctor in the Pandorica in 'The Pandorica Opens'.
10. "She is incomplete." Who was punching holes in the universe to find the right parts for the SS Madame de Pompadour in 'The Girl in the Fireplace'?

Answer: Clockwork droids

The clockwork droids were trying to repair their spaceship, the SS Madame de Pompadour, in the 51st century. The ship was badly damaged, and they had attempted to use the crew's body parts to repair the damage. The droids believed that Madame de Pompadour's brain was necessary for the ship.

They opened time portals throughout her life in order to find her when she was 'complete' at age 37.
