Well, this quiz will complete my American "LOM" quiz trilogy, this one using information from episodes 14 to 17. Sad to see a good show disappear after only one season. Best of luck to you on the quiz.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In episode 14, "Coffee, Tea, or Annie", a stewardess ends up dead in an alley. Several people are suspects, and one of them is played by an alumnus of the movie "Showgirls". She ends up being the stewardess killer, and comes dangerously close to shooting Annie Norris. What actress was this?

Answer: Gina Gershon

Gina played the jealous wife, who couldn't handle the swinging lifestyle of her pilot husband, who "swung" on the road more than she preferred.
2. In episode 14, "Coffee, Tea, or Annie", there was a man making his return to ABC television as the passenger on the plane suspected of killing the stewardess. Can you name me the actor who first entered our lives on a regular basis as Larry Appleton on "Perfect Strangers"?

Answer: Mark Linn-Baker

Mark Linn-Baker was the straight man to Bronson Pinchot's Balki Bartokomous on eight seasons of "Perfect Strangers". Mark also appeared with Peter O'Toole in the movie "My Favorite Year".
3. The passenger suspected of killing the stewardess in episode 14, "Coffee, Tea, or Annie", did have one issue that came forth during the questioning. What roll-your-eyes idiosyncrasy was revealed about the character?

Answer: He arranged to pay the stewardesses for their underwear.

This idiosyncrasy turned out to be not a money-making scheme, but a personal fetish.
4. Over the course of the show, Sam Tyler used pop culture references from his time in 2008 to come up with fake names. Which of these was not an undercover name he used on "Life on Mars"?

Answer: Bart Simpson

Tom Cruise was his pilot name in "Coffee, Tea, or Annie". Sam Bono was from Episodes 15 and 16 when he went undercover in the Irish Mob (hence, Bono). And Luke Skywalker was used numerous times in the show as the name he used around his mother in 1973.
5. In episode 15, "All the Young Dudes", the first scene involved the Irish Mob getting ready to unload a truck full of stolen goods. The goods ended up being a popular item in the future. What were they?

Answer: Video cassette recorders

Sam makes the mistake of calling them "VCR's", which is an 80's acronym. The portable phones were actually part of episode nine's plot, when the show had a man threatening to jump off a building when he lost his savings trying to market a portable phone. Sam tried to convince him he was ahead of his time and everyone would have these "portable phones", but none of his fellow detectives agreed.

They thought the idea was insane...who would WANT to carry around a phone?
6. In episode 15, "All the Young Dudes", his daytime caretaker from when he was young in 1973 ends up sleeping with him, at least the him from 2008 who came back to 1973. what was the character's name who was also the sister of the head of the Irish Mob?

Answer: Colleen McManus

Colleen McManus ends up breaking his cover when she realizes he didn't "make love like a criminal". The other names are made up.

This undercover role was Jason O'Mara's only opportunity to break out his natural accent, as he grew up and attended drama school in Dublin, Ireland.
7. Episode 15, "All the Young Dudes", ended with the dreaded "TO BE CONTINUED..." when two of the members of the 125 squad were shot by Jimmy, the head of the Irish Mob. Who got shot?

Answer: Chris Skelton and Ray Carling

Chris and Ray get lured into stopping a car weaving on the road. When they approach the window, Jimmy McManus shoots them repeatedly.
8. In episode 16, "Everyone Knows It's Windy", the murder of Jimmy was framed on Sam Tyler. but it ends up being Aries, the organization responsible for Sam going back in time to 1973. What store front do they use as cover?

Answer: Aries Toy Company

The "Aries Toy Company" kills Jimmy McManus because he unearthed information that would have broken the cover-up of Sam's time continuum. When Sam "peeks behind the curtain", he is ordered to jump from a building by Frank Morgan, the undercover Aries operative. He is saved last minute by the 125 squad coming on the scene.
9. In the 17th and final episode, "Life is a Rock", who comes seconds away from killing Sam Tyler with a knife?

Answer: His father

His father, played by Dean Winters, makes a final return to the show after Sam's mom says Sam (the young Sam) is missing. Sam fights Vic Tyler, his father, to the death, and almost loses when Gene Hunt shoots Vic in the midst of getting ready to plunge the knife into Sam.

The episode's title comes from the song "Life Is a Rock" by the group Reunion. It was there one and only hit.
10. What's the President's last name at the end of the final episode?

Answer: Obama

Obama...but not THAT Obama. Actually one of Barack's daughters is President...in 2035. It turns out both the 2008 reality and the 1973 reality weren't real. They were virtual worlds created as Sam Tyler's mind stimulators for the first manned mission to the planet Mars. Sam's references to space were numerous throughout the show, not obvious at first viewing, but they jump out at you if you watch again.

The rest of the cast are Sam's fellow astronauts, and Gene ends up being Sam's father.
