Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Whereabouts does our tale begin?

Answer: Damian's christening

Young Damian Derek Trotter is being baptised in the local church. Everyone but the new godparents Uncle Rodney and his estranged wife Cassandra are smiling. Rodney is still convinced Damian is a demon, just like the Damian in the film "The Omen", and his lack of enthusiasm is annoying Cassandra. (Come to think of it, baptism scenes are common in the 'Godfather' trilogy, so this might be a subtle joke of John Sullivan's since the mafia features in the part 2...)
2. What cheers Rodney up?

Answer: His father-in-law offers him some money

After the christening Rodney's former boss and father-in-law Alan reveals that his firm has just come into some money; a pension scheme has matured. At first Rodney takes the sensible option, agreeing to leave his share alone so it'll gain interest (he tells Alan "I'm not one of these grab-the-money-and-run merchants.")...until Alan reveals it's close to 900 pounds. Thrilled, Rodney takes the cheque after all. Hooray, an unexpected windfall! Little does he know his older brother will concoct a plan to use that money...
3. What's Del's latest money-making brainwave?

Answer: Selling wine to the church

Del has a little chat with the reverend after Damian's ceremony. Would it not hugely benefit the Church of England if it bought (quite cheaply) pre-blessed wine? The vicar does not understand. Del asks, wouldn't wine still be holy if it was blessed inside the truck before being dispatched to the various churches? The reverend thinks this is a good idea, and so do his superiors.

However, shortly thereafter, something goes wrong. But doesn't it always with Trotter senior?
4. Who is about to fly overseas to the USA?

Answer: Aubrey "Boycie" Boyce

In the pub that night, Boycie is irritated Marlene keeps telling everyone about their holiday. He keeps telling her to keep a lid on it! He doesn't want potential burglars to hear their house is going to be empty! He doesn't even trust cab companies, so he's getting Del to drive them to the airport instead.

He tells Mike the bartender "I wanted a close and trusted friend to take us." (But they were all busy so he had to ask Del instead.) As we see shortly, Boycie's holiday inspires an idea in Del.
5. Raquel disapproves of Del discussing business in the church.

Answer: True

Del is convinced his pre-blessed wine notion will be a huge success. He points out to his other half "There is a chapter in the Bible, actually called the 'Book of Profits'!" Before Raquel can point out Del's mistake, Marlene comes over to give her an intercom as a christening present.

It's a handy device; you can hear your baby cry at night, even talk back. Damian's parents eagerly assemble it that very night.
6. What two words does Cassandra regret saying?

Answer: "I do."

Rodney's mood is not improved when later that night after a few drinks he and Cassandra discuss saying words one might regret. Cassandra has a good example of two such words: "I do"! But then she apologises profoundly. Rodney is still living with his older brother; the marriage guidance councilor has advised Cassandra and he to only spend weekends together for the moment.
7. Rodney and Cassandra agree to fly off to Miami.

Answer: False

When Del hears about Rodney's unexpected pension money, he points out Rodney ought to book a holiday for two in Miami. Their friend Alex the travel agent is selling such holidays at the moment, on discount. Why shouldn't Rodney take Cassandra and re-kindle the romance? Rodney thinks this is a great idea and decides to go and book that afternoon! But Del says not to bother, he's already done so, and paid for it! Hmm.

But then it transpires Cassandra can't go; she's got to go out of town that week for work. Curses! So, on Raquel's suggestion, Rodney will take Del instead.

This has worked out very well for the elder brother, but is it just a co-incidence?
8. Why does Rodney run out of Damian's room?

Answer: He thinks Damian spoke to him

Despite the unexpected money from his father-in-law, Rodney is still in a bad mood. He is still sharing a room with his new nephew, and resenting the arrangement. Little does Rodney know Damian's parents have just installed an intercom system. So Albert and Del are using it to listen in from the living room. And they cannot fail to hear Rodney grumbling about this and that. Rodney makes things worse by telling Damian to go back to sleep, or else. "Who do you think you're talkin' to, Rodney?" demands Del's voice suddenly from the cot. White-faced Uncle Rodney sprints back into the living room! He sleeps on the sofa from that day forth...
9. Which rarely seen character appears in "Miami Twice"?

Answer: Sid - the cafe owner

Sid appears in almost every "Only Fools..." Xmas special. But he appeared only in one or two of the earlier episodes, like "The Longs Legs of the Law". In that one Rodney had been dating a policewoman named Sandra, unaware he would one day have a wife named "CASsandra"!"
10. At the airport who is standing before Del and Rodney in the queue?

Answer: Richard Branson

At the airport, it takes a while for the man in front of the brothers to move. Del grumbles "Anybody'd think he owned the plane!" Then the man turns around - and it transpires he does.
