Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Teams' starting line for this race was in a viaduct in which city?

Answer: Los Angeles

In the very first leg of the race, twelve people stood on the edge of the Sixth Street Viaduct in Los Angeles where they were told that a twist to the race would befall them immediately. The last team to claim the tickets to their first flight via a short task would be eliminated.

The teams needed to search through hundreds of license plates for one of eleven marked with Japanese Kanji reading 'Tokyo'. Here, Eric and Lisa were eliminated before even leaving the U.S.
2. At Tokyo Tower in Leg 1, team members had to consume which of the following at a Road Block task?

Answer: Wasabi

Flying to Tokyo, Japan after the impromptu elimination in Leg 1, teams were told to taxi to the TV studios at the base of the Tokyo Tower. Once there, all competing teams had to participate in a rather unique Road Block involving a Japanese game show called 'Sushi-Go-Round'. For this game, the participants would stand in a section of a spinning wheel and, at random, need to eat a wasabi bomb, an extremely spicy sushi roll containing tons of spicy wasabi. If they could down the roll in the allotted time they would receive their clue and their section of the audience for the next task. Teams' time in Tokyo was short, partly due to the unique circumstances in Los Angeles.

As such, no team was eliminated at the Pit Stop outside the Konnō Hachimangū Shrine.
3. In Leg 2 of the race, teams flew to Vietnam. While in the rural village of Cái Bè, what animals did teams need to herd through a course?

Answer: Ducks

Leaving Japan at the start of Leg 2, the eleven remaining teams were told to make their way to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam where they would have to catch a bus to the town of Cái Bè. Here, teams completed a number of tasks outdoors, mainly to do with rural life in the waters and fields of the Mekong Delta. During the Road Block task at the end of the leg, team members were told to use two flags to herd a pen of one hundred fifty ducks from one side of a bridge and back within ten minutes.

After checking in at the Pit Stop aboard a boat on the Mekong, Garrett and Jessica were eliminated.

The following leg brought teams back to Ho Chi Minh City for a series of cultural tasks.
4. In Leg 4, teams needed to visit the Foreign Correspondents Club in Phnom Penh, the capital city of what Asian nation?

Answer: Cambodia

Leaving Ho Chi Minh City at the start of Leg 4, teams flew to Phnom Penh. Although many teams blazed through the challenges in the city (from a whirlwind tour of its notable landmarks to a monkey-themed Road Block at Wat Toul Tom Pong), the eliminated team, Zev and Justin, ended up going home upon checking into the Pit Stop at Wat Phnom even though they were the first team to arrive.

This was the second time in the history of the show that a team was eliminated because they'd lost their passport-- the first time was in the penultimate leg of "The Amazing Race 13" (in Moscow, Russia). Since they could not fly in later legs of the race, they were eliminated by default.

This subsequently saved Maria and Tiffany from elimination.
5. In Dubai, UAE, during the sixth leg of the race, which contestant was eliminated for refusing to take a ride down the Leap of Faith water slide at Atlantis, The Palm?

Answer: Mika

In one of the more surprising eliminations of the season, teams headed to Palm Jumierah, specifically to the Aquaventure section of the resort, to ride the Leap of Faith waterslide. Although most teams completed this plunge, penultimate team Mika and Canaan lagged behind due to Mika's fear of heights. Forced to let Flight Time and Big Easy pass by, they ended up getting eliminated at the nearby Dolphin Bay Beach.
Both Legs 5 and 6 were held in Dubai and included visits up to the high floors of the Burj Dubai, Ski Dubai in the Mall of the Emirates, and the Old Souk.
6. In Leg 7, the final six teams visited the Martinitoren in Groningen, The Netherlands. What did they need to count inside?

Answer: Bells

Heading northwest from Dubai to Amsterdam, the teams drove themselves into the countryside of Holland to the Martinitoren where a Road Block asked team members to count the bells inside the structure. While this did hold back a frustrated Ericka, nothing could prepare Maria and Tiffany for the upcoming Detour. Unable to complete either task due to physical exhaustion and chilling temperatures, they were left behind at both tasks and eliminated out in the field by Phil. Had it been a non-elimination leg they'd have taken a 24-hour penalty.
7. In Leg 8, teams rode the Fritt Fall in the Tivoli Gröna Lund amusement park. This was in which Scandinavian country?

Answer: Sweden

Five teams headed out from The Netherlands in Leg 8, moving northward to Stockholm, Sweden and Tivoli Gröna Lund. After scouting out a clue atop the Fritt Fall and completing a game of ring toss, the teams traveled further from Stockholm to complete an explosive Detour task involving Nobel and dynamite. To end the leg, teams visited Bögs Gård Farm for a Switchback, a task which would revisit a previous event on the race.

In this case, like in "The Amazing Race 6", teams needed to unroll bales of hay until they found one containing a race flag.

Then, they could run to the Pit Stop nearby. This was a non-elimination leg.
8. In Estonia in Leg 9, teams visited Mustpeade Maja, a building used for which purpose?

Answer: Secret headquarters

Leaving Bögs Gård Farm and taking a ferry to Tallinn, Estonia, the five remaining teams were given a large keyring and told to find the headquarters of the Brotherhood of Blackheads. Once inside, teams finished a puzzling Road Block task involving the light of a candelabra and invisible ink. If they could read their page they would know to go to the Pikk Hermann Tower Gardens.

After venturing into the boggy outskirts of the city, teams finished the Detour and checked in at a Pit Stop. Only four remained at the end of the leg.
9. During the first leg in Prague, teams visited the Estates Theatre to complete which of these tasks?

Answer: Road Block

In Leg 10, teams flew from Tallinn to Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic. Although Leg 10 took teams on an adventurous trip through the city during the day (including a find-the-miniature-mandolin Road Block at the Estates Theatre and a stop-off at Prague Castle's Pit Stop), the next leg (the eleventh) took the final four teams on a night tour of Prague's Jewish Quarter for a Kafka-themed task at the Ekotechnické Museum and golem-themed Detour option near the Charles Bridge.

In this penultimate leg of the race, despite Brian and Ericka's Speed Bump and time-consuming beer delivery task through the city streets, Flight Time and Big Easy took a four-hour penalty at the Road Block and were eliminated.
10. At The Mirage in Las Vegas, during the final leg of the race, teams had to perform stunts from which Vegas show?

Answer: Cirque du Soleil

Flying back to the United States, the final three teams raced back to the United States and completed tasks in Las Vegas. This began with a Road Block face-first descent down the side of the Mandalay Bay and was followed up by stunts from Cirque du Soleil's Beatles-themed "Love' production.

At the Monte Carlo, teams counted out $1,000,000 in chips and then met with Wayne Newton at the MGM Grand before checking in at the Finish Line, Newton's house, the Casa de Shenandoah. Here, Meghan and Cheyne won the million dollar prize after placing first in seven different legs of the race.
