Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The scramble crossing in Shibuya, Tokyo was the first stop for teams on a race around the world. There, one member needed to eat which of these items (though made of chocolate)?

Answer: Sandal

Eleven teams, all from different CBS reality TV shows, took of from Los Angeles, California in the first leg of this 'reality clash' season of "The Amazing Race" and headed to Tokyo, Japan. All teams were dropped off in Shibuya on a charter bus before making a mad dash through the city, hitting different route markers along the way (including two Road Blocks, one involving eating chocolate geta sandals and the other involving climbing a slippery obstacle). Art and JJ, taking a penalty due to the physical demands of the latter Road Block, were sent packing early this time around, having placed second on their original season ("The Amazing Race 20").
2. At Wat Sensoukharam in Leg 2, teams provided offerings to local monks. Which of these was given?

Answer: Rice

The change of pace was immense as teams travelled from Tokyo, Japan to Luang Prabang, Laos in Leg 2, arriving to find a calmed environment for the race. In addition to providing offerings to local Buddhist monks, teams had the chance to get up close and personal with local elephants.

This Leg of the race also saw the first instance of a Double U-Turn, and while it was doubly-used (on "Amazing Race" teams), it was Rupert and Laura who found themselves eliminated at the end of the day.
3. Legs 3 and 4 brought teams to what Southeast Asian city, first at night and then during the day for back-to-back series of tasks?

Answer: Ho Chi Minh City

Teams headed only a short distance south in Leg 3, making their way from Luang Prabang, Laos to Ho Chi Minh City for two complete legs. In the first of these, they faced the nighttime activities and cityscape, learning to sing and dance, while in the second they took on tasks on the roads and in the parks of the bustling southern destination. Though the first of these two legs of the race featured a non-elimination Pit Stop, Corinne and Eliza were last to arrive at the end of Leg 4 and were sent home, leaving only one "Survivor" team left to compete.
4. Before stopping at the race's fifth Pit Stop in Dubai, teams had to travel by which means over the city?

Answer: Zipline

A nighttime leg in the city of Dubai was prepared for teams in Leg 5 and it allowed teams to head through the desert and the city without the overbearing Middle Eastern heat. Teams travelled to the Dubai Frame, Burj Khalifa, and the world's largest dinosaur park before, eventually, heading to the Pit Stop, but before they got there they needed to take the world's longest urban zipline across the Dubai Marina to check in. Leg 5 ended up being a non-elimination leg with Rachel and Elissa being spared from going home.
5. Which of these African lakes was the site of the only Head-to-Head challenge aired on this season of the race?

Answer: Lake Victoria

Though there was an unaired Head-to-Head involving badminton that teams encountered in Leg 4 (in Ho Chi Minh City), Leg 6 was the only one televised this season. This one involved a puzzle in which teams needed to shift drums, one at a time, to build coloured towers. If they could get them stacked properly, they would be able to proceed to the next Pit Stop and secure their spot to continue in the race, otherwise they would play the game again. Teams ended up finishing the Head-to-Head in the order they arrived which meant that Janelle and Britney were ultimately eliminated by Rachel and Elissa.
6. Lake Brienz was the backdrop for Leg 8, a leg of the race that saw numerous different types of challenges and tasks. The leg didn't feature which of these?

Answer: Fast Forward

Both Legs 7 and 8 took teams through the Swiss Alps around Zurich, Switzerland, and it featured numerous tough tasks which culminated in not only a non-elimination Pit Stop (the last of the race) at the end of Leg 7, but a Speed Bump and the first ever use of the U-Turn Vote in the U.S. version of the show.

In Ballenberg Community Hall, the teams voted that Colin and Christie and Rachel and Elissa complete both sides of the Detour before they took off on a gauntlet of Swiss challenges. It ended up being the death knell for the sisters though Rachel broke the record for most legs of the race completed by a female racer in the history of the show.
7. In Leg 9, teams visited the Diocletian's Palace for a Road Block in what European city?

Answer: Split

Heading southeast out of Switzerland in Leg 9, teams took a trip to the city of Split, Croatia in Leg 9 and spent most of their time out in the waters of the Aegean Sea, traipsing up and down the beaches for their Detour options and then heading to the massive Diocletian's Palace in the city proper. Most team members who showed up there to play a shell game for their Road Block worked together where they could before paddling out to their next Pit Stop.
8. Throughout most of Leg 10, teams travelled around the Dutch city of Kampen with which of these?

Answer: Tandem bikes

Teams left the Aegean and proceeded to a much more northern reach of Europe when they flew to Amsterdam in Leg 10. The leg took them to the beautiful Overijssel town of Kampen where they would spend most of their time heading from task to task on marked tandem bicycles since, of course, the Netherlands are one of the most bike-friendly nations in the world.

This leg of the race not only saw the classic bog-vaulting Switchback (previously used a Switchback in "The Amazing Race 21" after being used as a task in "The Amazing Race 12"), but the final Double U-Turn of the race, which sealed Becca and Floyd's fate at the next Pit Stop.
9. When teams landed on the Pit Stop mat at Camden Market in Leg 11, they were given one last task before being able to check in. It involved finding how many items in the market?

Answer: Eight

Teams travelled all around different regions of Southeast England in Leg 11, heading off to Dover Castle before returning to London proper for one of two intense Detour tasks that either tested their physical abilities rowing at the Serpentine in Hyde Park or their mental acuity working for a London cab service, memorizing a complex route through the city.

The leg ended with teams arriving at the Pit Stop in Camden Market, but not until they finished one last task recreating a display with eight items found in shops and stalls in the area.
10. For their final task, the top three teams had to put together a drum set in Detroit's Hart Plaza while which song played around them?

Answer: "Seven Nation Army"

With three "Amazing Race" teams in the finale of this 'Reality Clash' season, the stakes were high and the tasks were rapid fire in Detroit, the final destination city of this season. After a Road Block that sent one team member rappelling face-first down the Guardian Building, teams visited Third Man Records, owned by Jack White of the White Stripes, before encountering the band's hit song in a big way at Hart Plaza during a detail-oriented drum construction task that ultimately decided the winners. Colin and Christie were first to hit the Finish Line at Fort Wayne, becoming the victors of this season.
