Two hundred years after the Esperanto incident the Red Dwarf crew awakens from suspended animation to find Red Dwarf is gone. Naturally, Rimmer wants to blame Lister.

2. How did Lister trim his nails after waking from suspended animation?

Answer: Pencil sharpener

He uses a pencil sharpener, the kind that's mounted on a table. When he wakes up his hair was down to his knees, his nails are extremely long and his beard is overgrown.

Kryten was taking out the trash and whistling as he did so, while he placed the trash into the trash compactor. The trash compactor would be used later in the episode.
